I'd choose a non-fouling one that defies the probing Corporals' finger!

I'd pick the 5.56 NATO. More ammo per weight unit... :2gunfire: ...

Hello Fredleander true but i heard it causes half amount of damage as the 7.62mm.

It seems to me that the choice of bullet comes from their generation. From books ive read The SAS prefered the 7.62mm in Oman, Aden but now the few pictures of SAS and Books use 5.56mm in the '91 Gulf war and Afghanistan.

When you get hit with any round you more than often lose interest in the battle

So true. I have used both rounds quite a lot, I prefer the 5.56 NATO simply because you can carry more than the double number on the same weight. It is much easier to fire because of less recoil. This is particularly important in a conscription army and for people with little training. When the 5.56 was introduced in the BA the percentage making the sharpshooter badge increased dramatically. The lighter cartridge also allow for lighter weapons.

As for hit damage a doctor working on the victims in the recent Oslo incidence has declared that their wounds are the worst he has seen. I suspect the ammo used was 5.56 NATO. Problem with the 5.56 NATO is its high velocity, pressure waves on soft body parts and splintering effect when hitting hard body parts.
