Define 'Common'

There are no 'Common' snipers .....

"Common" is not a word that is ever associated with snipers!
They are the uncommon doing the unreasonable in the extreme.
Many can dream.....few will ever qualify!!!

It means usual! And it's a very common word. I.e. What is the usual (issued)sniper rifle used, is what the OP is asking.

Currently it's the L115A3 in 8.59mm (the Accuracy International AWM .338LM if you want to be all civvy about it). Replacing the L96 7.62mm as the standard sniper weapon.

The L115A3 is a bolt-action rifle that fires the 8.59mm from a 5-round magazine out to ranges in excess of 1500m.

The AW50 (in 12.7mm/.50BMG surprisingly enough) is in use in small numbers, primarily for anti-material and mine disposal work.

All the L96's within the army are being issued to men within companys to be used as sharpshooter weapons on OP's.

Snipers will only use the .338 plus supposedly a 7.62mm heckler and koch semi-automatic scoped rifle is in trials for use by number 2's within a pair !

Let's see how long that takes!

I have used a Barrett in the US. Huge rounds will stop anything in their tracks! With a straight stock the rifle doesn't lift on firing. At Brecon my favoured weapon was the L115A3, nice and smooth great action and accurate to about a mile. Most of the old 338s we used were only accurate to 600 maybe 800 yards but then they were easier to lug over distances but didn't have the same stopping power.

All good fun though!!!

The most common cathridge are the 7.62x51mm NATO for anti-personnel, and 12.7x99mm NATO for Anti-Material. You have to add the .338 Lapua Magnum (or 8.6x70mm in metric) and others less use.

For the Eastern Country there are the 7.62x54mm, 12.7x108mm and 14.5x114mm

For the Rifle

Accuracy International Aritic Wafare Sniper Rifle in the variant
PM: 7.62x51mm
Magnum: .300 Winchester Magnum
Super Magnum: .338 Lapua Magnum
AW50: 12.7x99mm
The Artic Warfare is a British Rifle use by: a too fu**ng big list of country to write them all, but we count UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc A lot of other like the US and Ukraine, use them only for Special Force (Delta, Navy Seal, Security Service of Ukraine) and other use them in their Law Enforcement Service like Hong Kong, Russia, etc (Total of more than 30 country)

Barrett Firearms 12.7x99mm Sniper Rifle in the variant
Barrett M82/107 Semi-automatic
Barrett M95 Bolt-Action
Their are probably the more use .50 caliber by the Western Military

Use by Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland and even the Zimbabwe. It's a Finnish Rifle

Dragunov SVD/SVU in the 7.62x54mm by more than 45 country it's maybe the sniper rifle (SVD) use by the greater number (military)of people. It's a Sovient/Russian Rifle

Gepard anti-material rifle in the 12.7x108mm, 14.5x114mm and now in the 12.7x99mm. It's a Hungarian Rifle use in the majority of the Ex-Eastern block (Don't have a list)
