Talk Talk Telecom.

Post by Wholley »

I switched to Talk Talk for my phone line only just six months ago.
I decided to pay the bill online. After signing up and attempting to log in I was told my e-mail address was incorrect.I found that a little hard to believe as it's the only one I use.
So I tried direct debit.First one ,no problem.
Second one returned unpaid,or so the rather curt form letter said.
Called the bank.
No direct debit requested from Talk Talk.

Wait, it gets worse :-?
Our hero decides to wait and see what happens next.
Picks up call from unknown # on land line earlier today.
PLEZZ BE CALLINK TARK TARK ON VELLY URENGENT MATTER! a machine asked me to call the following #08704441820 to be told this # is not in service.
Intrigued and a little annoyed I ventured back to their website.
Customer service# is 08700087038 which I call.
Machine say's BEING VERY VERY WELCOME INDEED TO TALK TALK AND AM TO THANKYOU VERY MUCH FOR CALLING TALK TALK CUSTOMER BILLING.OUR OFFICE HOURS BEING
8am to 8pm OUR OFFICES ARE NOW BEING CLOSED. :o
This was at 3.20pm.
I just know this is going to get worse before it gets worse.
Since I switched Iv'e been told they have the worst customer service in the Telecom industry.
Come back Ma Bell, all is forgiven :agrue:
Jerks.
Off soap box.
Now wheres my nitrostat.

Back in the day (over ten years ago) AOL were the best ISP in terms of connection speeds, user friendly, and customer support. Then they outsourced (I have a far more colourful metaphor for this that is not appropriate here) and it all went to ratsh*t.
This I discovered when taking them on as ISP and phoneline provider after a few years using someone else.
What a dogsh*t evolution that was.

I also used to rate Dell very highly but same problem again - why pay someone who speaks the customer language properly and cares (a bit) and understands how to help you, when you can pay someone who has none of these assets a fraction to (fail to do) the same job?

Get me off the soapbox before I start on Royal Mail... quick...!!!!

Not used Talk Talk but won't consider it now based on this.

I had a little look see as I was bored earlier.
Tiscali is still the parent company of Talk Talk Europe.
It seems the name change occured as a result of Tiscali got such a bad name for........

Guess what?

Lousy customer service.
The parent company of Tiscali is.......

AT+T.Atlanta GA.USA.

Cable and Wireless are in the mix somewhere but I'm getting cross eyed with all these company searches.
Can't even dial 9 for an operator anymore or Long Distance Information which used to be free. When I was being dragged up on the east coast of England the family Bakelite rotary phone's # had three digits and we shared it with three neighbors.
Then STD came along and drove the old man nuts.

He's up there somewhere having a chuckle at me for calling him a Luddite :D

Cheap service but as said very poor support and after sales!
One company i would never go with. 8)
To be honest you cant go wrong with any BT Backbone provider. In other words, a company that uses the BT Broadand Network but that is rebadged.

Sigh :( .......
Done with Talk Talk AND BT.
BT still own the line but as a last resort I have moved to Sky for broadband, phone and TV.
I don't much care to give Rupert my money but if this dosen't work out then I'm headed for"Luddites r us.com"and chuck the whole lot out.
Sky's customer service is in.....................

I always thought Sky have pretty good customer services until about 2 months ago when I was in the middle of buying something from a website or something or other its irrelevant anyway, my internet cut out completely. I then tried calling sky and got taken from one person to another over and over and then a few hours later they told me they basically couldn't help me. So I ended up spending three or four days speaking to them on the phone. :agrue: Another week later someone comes round and fixes the problem. It was rather annoying, and they were rather unhelpful. I am currently looking into changing providers.

I've always thought Virgin was pretty good. I had it at my old house and cant remember there being much problems, it was really fast as well! Got Sky now and its A LOT slower! We're just waiting on Virgin putting cables in our street so we can get it again.

I thought about Virgin as I worked for them some time ago.
Unfortunately there is no fiber-optic in this area, also you pay them for free-view TV which makes no sense as Sky have 240 channels.
I'm just hoping that having all three with Sky will reduce my bill somewhat hopefully to the tune of £20.00 a month.
Thanks for making my day Beast :-?

Seems your right.
Installation completed today, now I cannot receive calls on my landline.
No ringtone no nothing.
Got on to customer dis-service and it's an unbelievably common fault.
Some poor sap has ramped up £90.00 in mobile charges to get it sorted which it still isn't.

Someone up there REALLY dislikes me.

You think thats bad listen to this:

I was moving to a new house and called TalkTalk to set up my internet, they said it would be activated within a month, I paid them the £90 set up fee. One month later the internet is not on, I called them and after many phone calls it was on 15 days later. 2 Weeks into the internet I get home to find TalkTalk had cut me off, I rang them and they said they had COMPLETELY removed me from the server and If I was to get connected with them again I would have to pay another £90 set up fee and a month rental £25. I am now with virgin media with no problems whatsoever.

Only winner here is BT.
They own all the hardware and rent it to both TalkTalk and Sky.
Virgin are having to be careful about their advertising regarding speed.
Plus their base TV is just free-view+one or two odd bits.
I now have 300 channels of crap to watch and if I miss it the first time around then theres' always the +1's.

Deep Joy :banghead:

Now for the REALLY good bit.

Pricing.
First month.
Guy from Sky......£13.95.
Sky Customer Service....31.95.
Snail Mail from Sky.....£1.00.
Guy who I had to call from Sky....£17.95.

I guess if I keep around a £100 in my checking account that should cover all the bases.
Unless they snatch the lot.
