What is it about Bootnecks?

Post by Obi Wan Kenobi »

I currently work with a dozen or so former RMs. The Company employs many others in nearby camps. Most of whom I knew or met years ago. Nearly all of us are 40 - 50ish and were SNCOS/WOs.

We often socialise together, and here's the point. At evey gathering we spin the same old dits and play the same old tricks with child like enthusiasm, more over they are received with the same eager enthusiasm.

Paul Eddings (Former RSM and PW branch sponsor) reckons we have all regressed 25 years or more to when we were Corporals.

The wives stand watching, listening and rolling their eyes. They just don't get it. Poor misguided souls!

Its not just Bootys mate.

When I get with my mates the wife says I go back to being five, and she can quote every story we tell as its been said so many times before.

Thanks,
That was the unasked question.

Of course the same thing happens when I'm with the rugby lads or my former Army colleagues.

I love the way the wives can tell the stories word for word. They are well trained!

Same here, It does not matter If It Is with lads from the army or mates from civi street when we get together and there Is alcohol Involved It's like inverting back to a child like state. My wife decided a few years ago that I was best left to It and she would rather not be around to pick up the peaces so she leaves me to It.

I do have to say drinking with serving ex serving mates Is different to civi mates, they sometimes just don't get It.

Well, whaddya know!

I went down to visit Loz yesterday. We had a great girly time, chewed the fat and came up with the same conclusion.

If we'd seen any fecker who'd pissed us off we'd have run the buggers over and then gone for a pub lunch! :multi:

uncanny! I agree when I meet up with my old mates we always have a hoot - which to the uninitiated may seem bit off the wall. A lad who I grew up with and himself a former RM then went 4Para recently came round to do the tiling in my I'M A SCAMMER SPAMMER!!! - my lass didnt know what hit her, 'didnt have a clue what you lot were on about' and 'the neighbours are gonna complain'. All that before we bugged out to go to the pub! think your right about training too - dont think the 'work harder than others' mantra will ever leave my mind set.

And you bore every other bugger in the pub rigid.

We've all got tales to tell and stories to behold.

Sorry, Wholley .... delete as appropriate.

Thought I'd posted a reply here recently. I must be getting old.

Despite being over 50 and overweight, I still insist on 'pushing it' on the uphill stretches when I'm running.

Obi w@#k was binned and banned as Rogue Chef and has a least two other alter-egos.
He was banned over infringements of T&C.Just because he changes his username does not mean he can just show up when he feels the urge to cause problems again.

Fair one, but why just delete the one post and not all of them? Just seemed a bit strange.

We cannot be everywhere at once.
Although the force is with us we are only human and have lives outside of MF.A shed load of members think that moderators have nothing better to do than bitch and moan, delete, correct spelling and generally spoil all the fun(starting to sound like an officer now)When we see a prob one of us will step in with a correctional view-point to defuse the situation.
Deleting posts is a little unusual but happens from time to time when things get out of hand.
