I was reacting to the comments made about the video and my thoughts on their skills and drills, or lack of.

Was it really that intense? No not really. Good job...well thats very debatable.

Stinky, im not like alot of para reg who have a deep hatred for anyone outside their battalions. But that video was pathetic. Where was the section commander or ANY NCO's controlling the firefight? Is it your SOP's that you have 1 bloke get up and fire back? I for sure would not trust any of them next to me on patrol...would you?

haha yes it was intense for me, im still joining up, i have no experience so for me it was intense im just applauding the bravery and balls of soldiers putting their life on the line. so from me its a good job amateur or not they are out there doing the job.

Its understandable that you will be impressed by the lads doing their job out in the wars that we are fighting. All im saying is, dont be too caught up in that video. If you want a real example of the sort of thing you should be looking forward to doing its in the video below. Afghanistan is our main frontline at the moment, Iraq is being phased out and all our attention is being focused on fighting the taliban. Therefore you are more likely to be sent out to Helmand, rather than Basra.

The Anglians and Guards had one hell of a tour on Herrick 6 and saw some hard fighting. You dont see much flapping in this video unlike the one in that vehicle...

My bestfriend is due to go afghan next year with 3 Rifles he's AGC does any one know what role he'll be playing apart from his admin role obviously.

3 rifles are a light role batt.
