Orcas

Post by anglo-saxon »

Clicked these this afternoon. We took about an hour at 30 knots in a 16-foot RHIB to get out to where the whales were. There were 20+ of them feeding on salmon. These two were obviously full as they had broken away from the others and came diectly towards us to check us out. They went right under our boat and came up again on the other side. First time I've been so close to Orcas in the wild. I'll go out again in the Fall to see the other kind of Orca (the sub-species that feeds exclusivley on mamals). Hell of a way to spend an afternoon!

Have a look on you tube under Killer whale eats king salmon on fishing line.

You would need some diving-equipment for that operation.
