Anyone fancy a bash at No 6 for me surrogate son's 21st birthday on February 11th??

Bless the lad ..... he is away this week, a bloody long way away from his Mam ...... doing PRMC ..... and he is coming up to no 6 to celebrate his 21st.

L'Artiste and me will do our middle-aged best to entertain him in the time-honoured fashion, as will Me Laddo, the daughter and her mates, but if anyone else fancies a raucous weekend 'chez moi' to celebrate our NZ's friend's most important birthday, please feel free to attend! :drinking:

BTW Absolutely no fireworks!!!

Make sure he lets us know how his PRMC went. I failed my first time around and it wasnt nice, made passing the second that much better though. Good luck to you Benjo, and have a good 21st. I,m sure it will be a nice quiet affair at no 6......or not. :P

You aint been there. I have!

As it is this is Kiwibens second attempt. I just hope he took in what I said to him and cracks it with ease. He's one hell of nice bloke.

He's a goodun. Just a right Piso bugger when it comes to buying a round!!!

End of October me and Doc bought some pint bottles of Tiger beer whilst attending Flightys Birthday (21ist...ish). Kiwiben was allowed a bottle. Later he had another one without our permission!!!

He's learning!!! The last time he was up here he bought a round of drinks with hardly anyone dropping hints to him!!. Apart from me shouting Get the Wets in you Piso Git! :D :D :D

O and if your looking in Ben, Donna has moved to Telford. So you are going to be a Plums rating yet again. Not that he got anywhere with Donna anyway. Ben has three of things she don't like to see on her lovers.......To wit.......A pair of Knackers and a Dick!!! :D :D

Artist,

It seems Ben may have been taught the art of minesweeping elsewhere!

And as for buying rounds, well, being a Rubber Dagger Nod for 18 months left me pennyless. Needless to say, the wets were on me. They,ll be no need to take away my Opt-out rights when i hopefully re-join, as the fear of bankruptcy will see me through this time.

One thing I rarely met in the Corp was a bloke with rucks of money!

It just seems to be one of those things with the Corp. :D

Artist,

The one question i got wrong in my interview when i joined was "What is the daily pay of a recruit through basic traning?", i didnt know because to me it had not been an issue, i just wanted to be a Royal Marine. I wish i had kept that PMA when things got tough, but hey, we all make mistakes and i,ll rectify it as soon as my uni course is finished.

People say to me "now that you will have a degree why dont you go for a better payed job?" and though i could respond to that with a hell of a lot, to be honest, if they have to ask that question in the first place then the likelihood is they just wouldn,t understand anyway.

I did the exact opposite of yourself. Dropped out of the six form and joined up at 17 and a half years of age. Only in later years did I knuckle down and managed to get a Degree with the Open University. History. All paid for by Pusser.

As to the pay bit; On passing out from CTC as a Marine second class I was on the grand salary of 52 pound a fortnight after food and accomodation was taken from my wages.

Whilst in training I think I got 11 pound a week. Was 1973 when I joined. A pint of Beer was 10p a go. Lager was a couple of pennies more. And a Dutchy burger was a couple of pence as well. Twenty players Number six were 20p. I didn't start smoking until I joined up!!!

Saying that mind like most of my Oppos I was skint come the second week which was called a Blank week. The majority of us would waste it on things like Ale.....Beer....Women.....Ale.....More women and the odd visit home to sponge of our Families when really skint! :D
At 18 to 21 years of age why worry about money was my attitude. I had a Pit and I had food. And a Mother who was always good for a fiver if I sent her a begging letter!

The only time I was a Money Baron was when I would go home to Padstow in Cornwall and work the Owd Lobster pots with an Old bloke called Tommy Morrisey on his boat the "Girl Maureen". I sometimes earned over a hundred smackers which in the Seventies was a fortune to the likes of me! Alas this period of plenty was cut short when I did my first tour of NI in 75. On getting back to home I found out that owd Tommy had retired and his boat was in some museum in Falmouth.

Why not try for a Commisson? You have the brains to do it or you would never have got a degree.

Artist,

Ever have any lobster for yourself? Was out in Oz this xmas just gone, and it was Crayfish for xmas dinner. They look like lobsters to me and they taste fantastic. My step dad was a proffesional fisherman years ago and hence he has a 6ft boat, you see some amazing things at sea ive been told. I loved it, out catching a feed.

As for a Commisson, to be honest ive not really ever considered it, not as a YO anyway. I just want to get back and get my lid and get to a unit, look, listen and learn and see where that takes me (as i know there is a hell of a lot to learn, post CTC).

If things go well, i guess there,s a chance of Corps Commisson, though i know its not that common. To be fair i,d be just delighted to pass out and then work hard and have some fun at the same time, i dont really see myself as an Officer.

Im not even looking passed PRMC at the moment either.
