For John Mac

Haven't received an invite. I'll be there so please add me to the list. Hopefully will not require accom - I think I still have a few mates in the Exmouth area who can put me up for the night.

Regards to all

Looking for Bob Longhorn.

Post by Archie »

I am looking for Bob Longhorn for a troop re-union in June at CTC.

Someone suggested he may be attending your Sigs re-union later in the year, so if anyone can give me a clue, or better still a number to contact him, that would be great

Cheers

Hello All.....

I've been trying divers e mail addresses to no avail...
I would appreciate info on the reunion - I know that I'm late - as usual...
however I have really tried - honest -

As not all old duffers like myself are online - I'm sure that a copy to
the Royal Naval Association at Wadebridge - attention Tom Salt, Chairman
would go down well... Tom has contact with quite a few of my colleagues
from the Sigs of the middle of the last century - but as far as I can gather
he was not aware of the Reunion.

Many thanks in advance...

Alan Nicholson ( RM 15537 - (S) 654 - last unit - Recce - 45 Cdo Aden )

Resident of Norway since '66 - 1966 that is not 18...
Out of touch since then but making up for that over this 'net'...
Amazing what the electrickery can be used for - and grand to be in
touch with the Corps again !

The 2002 Signals and Tels reunion is now a done deal! It was my first time at the reunion and I enjoyed myself to the max. Great to see such a range of age groups attending, from the old and bold, to the lads from the current S2 Course and Ex Sp Tp. The event organiser John McWilliams and his helpers did a superb job in organising the occasion - glad your marquee stayed in one piece John! A personal thanks from myself to all who I spoke to, amazing how well everyone is doing in civie St - you give me hope. Great to see that individuals don't change and old volleyball Jungle rules still exist!! I look forward to being part of the next reunion in 2004. Please look after yourselves and enjoy life until we meet again. All the best.

Reunion 2002

Post by Val »

Phil Green says it all in summing up this years reunion. The organisation was, as ever, superb so a vote of thanks for that. Although it is great to see all the regulars at the get together and catch up with the news, I particularly enjoy meeting those who haven't been before. This year for me it was meeting up with my old run ashore buddy Billy Legget for the first time in over thirty years. Now, when Maureen speculates "I wonder what happened to Billy" I can tell her he's alive and well and still as short as ever!
Thanks again, Val Parnell

STW Reunion

Post by Pilgrim Norway »

:D
It has all been said - but here's my contribution anyway....
The day was entirely positive and I came into contact with many known faces from the past. Some of my colleagues from my last commission in 45 Recce Troop, Aden were present and my day was spent with
three friends from our Recruit Squad, 654 – from the spring of 1956 !
An emotional time and absolutely grand.

I met someone from every phase of my time in the Corps and some good memories were revived and exchanged. From time to time I registered being patted on the back, or someone would hold my arm, pat my head etc…Fine feeling !

Toward the end of the evening, when my squad mates had left for home, I sat at the back of the hall and just watched everyone enjoying themselves – something to take home for the long Norwegian winter nights.

The organisation was superb and I have only admiration for the planning and execution of the Reunion. The young Marines who assisted were friendly and showed a comradeship for us ‘ Old Soldiers ’ which gave an extra glow of warmth.

I hope that I will be excused when I asked them “which one is the ball ?” upon seeing some of my friends in shorts and what must have once been T shirts ( though now stretched to the almost unrecognisable ) on the volleyball pitch.

I was especially pleased to see the Memorial tribute plaque to Tony Easterbrook in the pavilion. I was the only representative from Signals to make the New York Tattoo and was, of course, in the arena of Madison Square Gardens when he fell.

To meet old oppos was a great boost... The names are too many to mention here - good to see Tom Salt, Pete Coad, Chunky Fisher, Frankie Lycett, Oggie, Ron and absolutely all of you....

Two more years lads ! Two more years.....
Thank you Neil Cooper and John Mc wiliiams - Well carried and delivered.
