Hi ,
You may have known my father, you may have not, but it was worth contacting you all nonetheless.
His name was Peter John Rogers RM14414 ,who served with the 3rd Royal Marine Commando in the mid 50's and early 60's(1954-64?).
He served in "40","41","42" and "43" commando
He was affectionately known as "Sticks", I guess that was due to him being a bugler/drummer.Was at Deal 1954-57
He was on H.M.T. Dunera of which I have one photo of with a line up of him and several of his colleagues.
He has sadly recently passed away (Jan 26th 2006) through ill health but I am in the quest for photos , stories and basically anything to do with my father as a Royal Marine and who knows I may have some of you guys too.
If you do have any information regarding him I would appreciate your reply, if not ,then I do apologise for wasting your time.
My kindest regards to you all,
Russell Rogers (Son of Peter)

You could try this web site as there are a fair few blokes from your Pops era who post regular there.
www.onceamarinealwaysamarine.co.uk
Just go to the message centre and you may get some joy.
Saying that there are a couple on here who also come from your Pops era and before. JR and owduns names spring to mind.
Very sorry to here of your Pops passing away Russell.

Thanks very much for the info . I have ex-Marines everywhere searching including OAM,AAM website. This was another port of call for me.
Even the guys in Oz are helping me out !
So far , I've found 2 chaps who served with him and one who remembers him greatly, so the search has not been in vain.
Good health to you
Russ

Mid 50'S Oppos
Thanks.
Its been a short intensive search this last 8-9 weeks but the response from you guys has been tremendous and I will always be grateful.
Do you think there's a chance you can nudge some of the older guys this way just to see if they knew him ?
Mainly the guys who were at Deal from Nov '54-56 and onwards to 1963
He also took part in 1956 Edinburgh Tattoo (Bugler)
Served on HMS Maidstone, Vernon, Parapet ,Tyne,HMT Dunera (Aden 1960)
Cheers
