I've Never Seen my Dad.

Post by jennifermaynard »

Hello Im Jen Im hoping that just maybe some one can help me out.

Im a proud Daugther whoms Dad died when I was only a year old.
My Dad died of cancer back in 1976/1977

His Name is Leslie Thomas Joseph Maynard he was in the 3/6 Regament Royal Engerniers Strap Reserve Bomb Disposal Stationed at Maidstone
(Chatten Den) HQ.
He left the army back in 1973 I was hoping that there might be the chance that some of you go back around at that time and was in the same regament to remember him or knew him.
He had a mate called Charlie Hodgson maybe you are out there some where?.
I have never had the chance to see my dad and would love to get hold of a picture of him lined up in those army get together pictures that you lot have done.
I have written to the army but with no joy.
Hope to hear from some one soon thank you for reading this.
Regards Jen.

Unfortunately I can't help but wish you all the luck in finding more photos of your dad.

Not sure if you've tried these other routes, but if you know names of people have you tried tracking them down on things like facebook, friends/military reunited etc.

Just a thought.

I have searched for imformation on him for many years now and have tried many ways but with no joy, I have even phoned a many places searched high and low.
Without my mum I cant seem to get anywhere I have been told that she is the only one who can obtain information from the army But I do not know where she is.
Just feel upset that I cant even find out anything about him or even see what he even looked like.
I was taken into care from the age of 10 and have seemed to have lost everything that was around me.
But I will keep trying Thanks.

Jennifer -

If you know a little more about your father - try this ......

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss ... nard&sbo=0

With your Mother's information in addition and place of residence etc =
(his Mother's maiden name - his Regiment - places of service etc etc.)
you may just strike gold ...... ( does he use his full name for example ?).

It could cost you for membership if you have to go further into the
material but it's probably worth it to you.

Luck

best 'aye,

Thanks for your replies and I have joined up at another site with the same imformation I have given here & thanks for the PM to.

I have some more info about my dad just in case.

He died at the age of 28 the same year as I was born in 1976. He was married to Rita lilan Maynard or known as Lilan Maynard.
They had my brother a few years before me his name was also Leslie Maynard.

Dad & Mum also lived on army barracks at the time. not sure which one, will have to find out more on that.
When he finished in the army he started work with british steel.

Thanks for reading this.

Perhaps if you looked further into this page - and several of the items -
you might just strike lucky .....

It's 'pay as you go' but they're good.
