I have heard that July 10th 05 will be a Bank Holiday to Commemorate VE and VJ days

Hmm, when I was a wee lad back in '95 I recall us getting a day off school (and a bank holiday) on the 8th of May and there was a bank holiday to boot on Aug 18th (That is the right date?). Seems we're getting short changed a bit on this 60th anniversary?

I can remember getting a day of school every year for Empire Day.

Off topic somewhat. The 24 May is Memorial Day in the US, Spring Bank holiday in the UK, Victoria Day in Canada. I only learned the other day that Canada is the only Commonwealth country to commemorate Queen Victoria's birthday.

Victoria day is still partly celebrated in Scotland - the nippers get the day off school :D
