Iran Unveils Composite Armor, Bulletproof Vest, Detection s

Post by promised »

The Iranian defense researchers, inspired by fish scales, have designed and developed a new type of hi-tech bulletproof vest which protects the soldiers against bullets fired from close range and different angles.

The vest can highly increase the protection and survival chances of the individuals wearing it and protects them against many dangers in the battleground.

Due to the technology used in the new bulletproof vest compared with the usual vests, the body’s vital organs are protected against the bullets fired from close range and different angles.

Inspired by fish scales, the flexibility and overlap of the layers which make the vest play an important role in decreasing injuries.

A bulletproof vest, ballistic vest or bullet-resistant vest is an item of personal armor that helps absorb the impact from firearm-fired projectiles and shrapnel from explosions, and is worn on the torso. Soft vests are made from many layers of woven or laminated fibers and can be capable of protecting the wearer from small-caliber handgun and shotgun projectiles, and small fragments from explosives such as hand grenades.

Metal or ceramic plates can be used with a soft vest, providing additional protection from rifle rounds, and metallic components or tightly woven fiber layers can give soft armor resistance to stab and slash attacks from knives and similar close-quarter weapons. Soft vests are commonly worn by police forces, private citizens, security guards, and bodyguards, whereas hard-plate reinforced vests are mainly worn by combat soldiers, police tactical units, and hostage rescue teams.

Modern body armor may combine a ballistic vest with other items of protective clothing, such as a combat helmet. Vests intended for police and military use may also include ballistic shoulder and side protection armor components, and bomb disposal officers wear heavy armor and helmets with face visors and spine protection.

Iran unveiled a home-made smart detection and guidance cabin for high precision cruise missiles and a smart composite armor used in tanks and personnel carriers in a ceremony attended by Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan on Monday.

The detection and guidance cabin which increases the precision and smartness of ballistic missiles as well as their destruction power and their ability to overcome anti-missile systems, boosts the combat power of the Armed Forces by enabling the cruise missiles to hit enemy targets both on land and sea with full precision, or pinpoint, capability.

Iran is now among the very few advanced countries enjoying such a state-of-the-art technology used in strategic weapons.

Also, the Iranian Armed Forces unveiled a new home-made smart composite armor which was built based on liquid armor technology using unique fibers.

The new armor is resistant to anti-armor steel-core bullets and was built on the basis of high world standards.

Using this technology, Iran will be needless of the foreign materials whose exports to Iran have been boycotted. The hi-tech product decreases the weight of the armor used in tanks and personnel carriers up to 76% which is interpreted as increased mobility and agility of the combat power of the Armed Forces in the battlefield.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

The country has repeatedly made it clear that its military might is merely based on the state's defense doctrine of deterrence and that it poses no threat to other countries.

Iran has taken wide strides in optimizing its missile technology. Late 2012, Iranian air defense units exercised targeting Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with optimized anti-aircraft Hawk missiles during the massive military drills in the Eastern parts of the country.

On the second day of the exercises, the air defense units fired a Hawk missile at a drone and destroyed it. The missile was fired by a mobile air defense system on a missile-launching vehicle.

Also at the time, Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli announced that Iran has optimized the mid-range Hawk air defense missiles.

"The Hawk missiles which are good for medium altitudes have been optimized and indigenized in the country," Esmayeeli told reporters on the sidelines of "Modafe'an-e Aseman-e Velayat 4 (Defenders of Velayat Skies 4)" air defense drills in November 2102.
