Joinin the Paras

Post by sterion66 »

Hi guys,

I'm Mike just wanted to say hi. I've put in to do the insight course on the 31 aug - 2 sep. I have also applied online to join the parachute regiment. I started the 4 week para training programme suggested by them. A friend of mine does hiking in the peak district or lake district wherever he fancies at the time and i'm going with him on one of his treks to improve hill fitness. If anyone would like to give me any tips on what to expect or things to concentrate on during training it would be most appreciated.

I have read many things on here so feel i know what to expect but any advice is a bonus. Even thought i've read things maybe i haven't took some bits in but am i right in thinking the stages of joining are the following;

See an Armed Forces Careers Officer
Complete a basic fitness test / pass medical
Complete a basic literacy and numeracy test
Join the paras for the 6 month training

If this isn't the way it's done i apologise for being naive.

Thanks for responses,
Mike

Edit :

Want to double check i'd pass the medical

I broke my wrist in march (distal radius) full mobility now and functional
Also in march footpeg from my bike punctured my knee also now fully functional. The result of highsiding my motorbike whilst racing at Brands hatch. I haven't found anything which would say this would fail a medical.
