Its never going to happen. I wish it would...it would be one for the history books. But there are too many things that could go wrong and cost alot of lives.

The americans have done a few jumps in Afghanistan haven't they?

How come they will risk a para drop but we won't? Is it just that they have more balls when it comes to ops than our Generals?

Here's a link to a discussion about it:

There was talk of B-company 3 Para doing a jump into the area around camp bastion, but what the hell is the point!? :-?

I imagine there would be alot of injuries jumping onto such hard surface of rocks etc, and why drop them around camp bastion where nothing ever happens. Why not drop into sangin or naw-zad and actually use it as the start of an Op, re-inforce with another company using chinooks, have the DZ overwatched by patrols platoon or PF in firesupport role on high ground and bobs your uncle.

Nope, it's because they have so much more men, aircraft and logistics to throw at the problem. 3 Para battlegroup were so stretched that nothing other that what they were committed to already could have been considered.

Thanks Greenronnie for clearing that up for me.

Is Santa Clause going to provide the aircraft for this then?
