Talking about books, one of my lads has been reading McNab's Boy Soldier series and its his Birthday soon. Does anybody know what the order is of the series, if they go in an order, that is? As this could be a good addition to his pressies!

Cheers

For someone who isn't too keen on reading due to time constraints i enjoyed Ultimate Weapon by Chris Ryan. In a similar situation to you though Gr, although i have a couple of his other books haven't read them so nothing to compare to. The good thing i find about UW is it gripped me from the start and isn't short of building a good mental picture of whats going on.

It gets pretty intense in the middle too.

Speaking of Chris Ryan, someone just got me Strike Back, any ideas what it is like?

When I was working in London (2001 - 2004) I shared a flat, for a short time, with Mike, a former SAS chap. He and I had met briefly some years earlier when we were both in HM Armed Forces.

There was a TV series called "Hunting Chris Ryan", which Mike and I used to watch together. Former RM C/Sgt Ken Waterhouse was one of the Hunter Force.

Despite all the negative stuff that McNab and Ryan have attracted, Mike never spoke badly about either of them. He would dish a bit of lighthearted stick out during the programme but nothing serious.

I never questioned Mike much about them, but the stuff we did chat about didn't indicate that he thought either of them were anything less than 'good eggs'.

Probably not what some of you wanted to hear.
