Medical discharge from basic training

Post by Claire1234 »

My son has been medically discharged from basic training as he had a migraine with blurred vision.
He was 3 weeks away from passing out.
He has been told that he can reapply in 2 years as long as he is migraine free.
Do you think he could appeal against this if we can get to the bottom of what caused his migraine?

If he has to wait 2 years to rejoin and his migraines have stopped can they still
Say he can't join?

Thanks

I am sorry that your son got dropped due to medical reasons, but the army does dangerous work and should they pass him knowing of his problems then they could be held liable of he got hurt.

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah it's such a shame and I understand that 100% that they need to be fit.
The Army knew that he had migraines as he told them this on the forms when he first signed up.

Do you think that he will be able to go back in if we can stop the migraines?

To be quite honest I would have to say NO for if he has had this problem once it could always return. He could try the TA later and see if things are clear he just might be able to move across but it would depend on what he is going to do in the Army as a noisey environment with many bright flashes from explosives could trigger it off again
