Records question

Post by RedAmber »

Greetings from Vancouver Island, Canada. It's been quite a while since I've been on this forum, but I am in need of some info, please.

I was in the Brit TA for nine and a half years, about half of which was full-time. I've just found out after a further 19 years of service with the Canadian Forces that my Brit time is eligible to be applied towards my service here for our equivalent of LSGC and bars, etc. It seems I was given duff info years ago and I had no reason to suspect. Hence my medal/bar dates in the CF and possible my pension dates, too, are out of whack. Finally, somehow the docs used from the Brit Army for proof of UK service are no longer on my CF personnel file.

So my question is: If I want to get my hands on docs that prove my Brit Army service dates, can anyone please tell me to what office in the UK I must apply? A name and address would be great. A phone number as well would be perfect.

If memory serves, it used to be the Infantry Manning and Records Office in York (?).

Your assistance is much appreciated.

By the way, the site looks really good, Beast. Awesome job!!

Cheers all.

Try this Dept. www.veteransagency.mod.uk. they will give you the directions you need.
You could also use this phone number 0800 1692277,you will of course need the UK prefix.

Worked like a dream. Form downloaded and submitted.

I was even able to recall my National Insurance Number. Not bad for a guy with aliminium pot syndrome and considering I haven't used the number in 20 years!

Cheers muchly!

:D

Most of me is doing quaite well - the rest of me I try to ignore ...

"They" could seriously use me as an advert - disgustingly good shape for the shape I'm in.

More snow than we've had in yonks and the coldest period in mans memory -
but I love it... that's why I came here. Not been on skis for a couple of years now - a bit leery of refurnishing my insides

And yes, Mod - Have the badge sewn onto my night attire - mostly in for 'listening' though

How are things with you then ?

Eighty is only old if you're a cheese I've heard....

Get thee down to Commando for the pie and peas this year. I can guarantee that you'll
have a great time. I'd go anywhere for a curry lunch but I really have enjoyed the meets that I've been to. As you know I met up with JR on the last one ( the Dedication of the Wall).

Have you a copy of the TVised DVD ? If not will fix it for you. I'll be over for the 8) gathering in July and again for the Old and Bold in September. I may do the Yomp this year too. Another shufty at Dartmoor with a yomp of a few k's would do me good.

Oh, to be seventy again :D
