How To: Avatars & Ranks

Post by Beast »

What is a Avatars?
Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts.
Only one image can be displayed at a time.
As indicated in the image below.

Image

Avatar Specifications.
In order for the Avatar to work, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, a height no greater than 80 pixels and a file size no more than 12kB.

Saving A Avatar.
First of all you need to choose your image.
There are plenty of images to be found on the Internet.
Once you have found your image, right click and choose 'Save Picture As' from the menu and save locally to your computer's hard drive.
As indicated in the image below.

Image

Using A Avatar.
Enter your Profile and scroll down the page untill you come to 'Avatar control panel'.
As indicated in the image below.

Image
You have three choices.
Upload Avatar from your machine: - Click the 'Browse' button and find the image you saved earlier.
Once you have found your image, click once to highlight and click the 'Open' button.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'Submit' button to save your made changes.
Your Avatar is now ready to be used and will appear automatically when you make a post.

How do I change my rank?
In general you cannot directly change the wording or image of any rank (ranks appear below your username in topics and on your profile).
As indicated in the image below.

Image
Ranks are used to indicate the number of posts you have made and to identify certain users, e.g. moderators and administrators may have a special rank.
Please do not abuse the board by posting unnecessarily just to increase your rank, you will probably find the moderator or administrator will simply lower your post count.

Hope you enjoyed another little learning curve. :)

I picked out an avatar and saved it in 'My Documents' and then went to my profile and clicked on 'Browse'. Opened the picture I wanted in 'My Documents' and clicked on 'Submit'. The new picture didn't appear!! I must have missed something somewhere along the way.

Are you one of those Rip it off merchants, and then poke the soggy end on a stick?
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Mike, if you type Avatars in to a search engine like google, you will come up with several sites worth a browse.

Thats how i found my little Skiffle in a box.
Chaos, Disorder, Destruction.....My work here is done!
