MoD Pension Review

Post by Mutley »

I see that a crossbench select committee has slated the MoD and the Govt for its review of military pensions.

It highlights that the pensions do not adequately reflect the service and sacrifice given to Queen and country, but because the govt told the MoD that the review had to be 'revenue neutral' (i.e. not cost any extra) the effect is a load of b#ll#cks.

Nothing new there then

All ex and serving soldiers, If you have not heard already some
2,52 soldiers “THAT HAS BEEN ADMITTED SO FAR” where made to leave the regiment/corps against there will and a still unspecified number to change there contracts to S-Type, or as we all knew it the dreaded "BROWN ENVELOPE".many were very experienced professional blokes, not all were “dead wood” as they was led to believe. Some 500 blokes from 5 Airborne Brig in 96 alone were subject to this.
It has now been exposed that the reason for the Brown Letter was to
save on Pensions, example for every 4 soldiers made to leave/change
to shorter contracts 1 Million pound would be saved in pensions in the future

There is very soon to be a public enquiry and a high profile Court case and possible fincaial compensation for those effected after the case is won..........and it will be.
Remember the Army is still heavly under-manned and have sufferd for a number of years, this was just one system thought up by a nameless
civil servant to rob us yet again.
However the worst victim of this system was a young child called Chandler, one or two here know of the lad
here is a link for you all to read

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/mai...%2Fnsquad29.xml

Point to note. when this system was first uncoverd by the press in april 02 buy coincidence only two soldiers had been subject to this in that year, the last being in April 02. NO MORE HAVE EVER BEEN SUBJECT TO THIS AGAIN

your thoughts on this subject please.

PS The Administrator will proberbly get an E-Mail from HMG requesting you to remove this thread..............well thay have attempted that with the other sites
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Just read a most disturbing report in the Daily Mail today regarding Service Pensions. Lots of worrying details but the one that worried me most was the bit stating that MOD would have to reduce the pensions of ex-servivcemen already on pension to make up for the shortfall caused by unreasonable people like us living longer.
A land fit for heroes!!!!!
Why the hell is Hoon the Goon still in his job.

Contractor it would be worth while grabbing a copy of the Daily Mail and reading the report. I must admit I didn't understand the bit about delaying service pensions until 65. Do you no longer get your pension when you are discharged to pension??????????

The article that I read indicated that the qualifying age for drawing a deferred MOD pension would be raised from 60 to 65, due to an increase in longevity. I did not read anything with reference to pensioners already in receipt of a full pension.

I have the article here in front of me and I quote;

'Ministers argue they have to cut pension payments to retired personnel to offset the estimated £125million additional annual cost from expected future rises in life expectancy'

Possibly I am reading something into this that isn't there and the pensions of retired personnel won't be touched - I certainly hope so. I'll be more than happy for one of you to clarify the situation.

Wully,
Are you telling me that my pension might be reduced? I can't believe that even this Goverment could be that stupid!!
And what about my War Pension for incurring "injuries" whilst serving?
I don't think that what the Press reports is always accurate!! At least I hope not!!

Pension trough

Post by thokenda »

I have put a notice in the General Discussion section concerning the Pension Trough. This only refers to people who retired to pension during the Pension Code Years 1976/1977.
Further to the discussion on the Defence review on Pensions, having now read a few articles on the subject I would agree with Andy that the changes will refer to people retiring after the new rules come into force and will not effect those already drawing a pension.....I hope !
