Gear Recommendations

Post by Benw »

Chaps,
I am looking for some gear recommendations. In a previous post it was mentioned that it would be useful to turn up to CTC with a personal first aid kit and a map cover, amongst other things. What are the essentials that the first aid kit should contain (I haven't had a kit list from my AFCO yet so apologies if this stuff will be on there).

I am assuming it should have:

Adhesive Fabric Strip
Bandages (triangular as well as normal)
Tweezers
Scissors
Pain killers
Antiseptic Wipes
Dressings
Safety Pins
Wound Closure Strips
Plaster Tape

Is all this necessary or can it be cut down?

What is a good, long lasting map case?

And finally, does anyone know where to get sorbothane insoles at a good price?

Thanks in advance lads.

Ben

The short answer to your interesting post young Ben, is yes.
Is all this necessary or can it be cut down?
Yes it is necessary, but, yes, it can be cut down.
does anyone know where to get sorbothane insoles at a good price?
Again, the answer is yes.
Hope that helps.
Or you could just chill out mate :P

That Hackedoff is a sarcastic twat at the best of times and you`ll be meeting more of the same when you " turn up" at CTC
You won`t be needing a First-Aid kit on day one, and ditto the map case. Sorbothane insoles are great. The Pusser ones actually do work btw. Go to any Feet R Us type of shop for them, JJB Sports are as good as any other.

Clock this, it`s full of top bollocks tips 8)

Thanks for the advice Harry and...err Harry :o .

Seriously though, I'm just trying to limit my spend on unnecessary items so I can have some beer money. Recruit wages don't go a long way  .

Millets also do a mountain leader first aid pack, it's something like £20 but it has everything you will need...

First aid packs have to be carried, and civvy versions can be bulky. Put a few plasters in a small tin, with 6 aspirin, and swallow hard when in pain. That'll fix most ailments.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

20 quid best spent on beer.
Don`t waste your money Ben. There`s no way you will be expected to buy a civ first aid kit for 20 quid, for true.
Send me the twenty and I`ll tell you what`s needed
What happens when you click on the link in my previous, by the way? Does it work or do you get the 404 error message?
Answering this question doesn`t mean we`re engaged, mind

That stuff is classic - and I'm sure very useful. Thanks for the laugh.

Do you think I will dump nuts and bolts if I follow El Prez's advice.
