You've been lurking again JR 8)

I too will make the effort more often now that I've seen around the forum.

I've been in lurk mode but have checked the 'Listener' patch from time to time...

I'll do my best to keep up the banter - and I look forward to your input here - always welcome
and informative wings...

Aye

The Reunion

Their arrival went unoticed as they came in ones and twos,
A few old men in blazers and green berets hardley Made for
headline news. Sadly, fewer came each year Today perhaps
a score, But all were warmly welcomed by The person at the door.

The hired room was warm and bright and rang with hearty greetings,
With jokes and laughs and well told Dits Recalling other meetings.
The sense of comradeship was strong Forged from shared duress,
A mark they left on history With youthful selflessness.

The meeting was a great success,With wine in moderation,And everybody
joining in The noisy conversation,Eventually the room went quite,As if to make
amends,And some rose and voiced their thoughts,'A toast to absent friends'

Here's to us and those like us,Damm few left.Aye JR

Good to see some familiar names here! Greetings from one maybe not so old and definitely not so bold.

I was drawn in after reading about Wholley, really shocked about that.

Alan, I looked out for you at last years sigs reunion. I was easy to spot, I'd gone for a walk to 'clear my head' and sober up so naturally I had a go at the regain over the static tank  . One skinned forearm and a couple of cracked ribs later I was back in the mess. I didn't find out about the ribs until waking up on my oppos floor the next morning. Ouch!

Hope you're keeping well fellas.

Why have I not seen this thread before now ?

Nice to see you on here Sully old lad ... your post made me chuckle a bit :-) quite a few of the young men at the pie and pes were keen to do physical training - eben I had a go at a gert great bit of
weaponry advanced from the Brown Bess...

It was good to see the younger crowd there this year I hope that they will continue with livening up
the festivities. They make a pleasant change from we of the Malta first draft gang.

More than a few are on the Pirates of the Bright Blue Sea clan now - very active :-) They number more than we had in the entire 45 Commando in the sixties !

As you see - I'm in here occasionally so keep in touch :-)

Hello Bud

Aye it was a good day. I had to fly to Nuremberg for work on the Sunday so I was feeling a bit sorry for myself, it took about 6 weeks to heal up but I can still hear the crowd cheering from the balcony of the junior rates naafi - what a nobber  I stood next to a recently retired WO2 (that I knew as a Mne) in the scran queue and was tickled when he started DS'ing the sigs fellas over the wall - "heyup that mast isn't very straight is it!" He'll have serious 'adjustment issues' in civvy street :D

Sad to hear so many names for the absent friends toast but the raffle was chaotic as ever (didn't you win something again?) and it was a good day.

Yep keep in touch my friend.

Hello Murphs young man - from january to may in about thirteen posts - what a state we're all in ...

I'm guilty because of Fakebook - I spend more time in there as it seems more "instant" and there are pictures as well as joined up writing... I keep on looking for the "like" button on here but there aint one ... Harry Hackdoff is in quite regularly, when he's not off barbieing somewhere in the outback...

Samey same OAMAAM page - I'm seldom in there as I forget to check posts -

Ah well. I've just spent some time down in Rhodes, blue sea, blue sky, all inclusive deal, around the upper twenties instead of minus ditto - someone has to do it :D

I travel like a peach but this time all went well and we were even able to forward our cases directly from the hotel straight through to Oslo - much easier and restful.

I'll take a stroll through here tomorrow ... honest.
