The RM flat cap

Post by sportbilly42 »

Marine Mark Jackson... local boy to me. Awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... enade.html
Good drills.... Nails 'n all that..... Look at that steely stare and the iron chin......

But hang on.... what's that on his head? Do Booties get issued a green flat cap these days? Or have they decided to take on the battle honour of The Glorious Glosters and start wearing the cap badge at the back....? A badge perched on the top of your left ear has a look of extreme ally-ness if you ask me....

First off. Well done to him. Second, the beret needs sorting out, it looks horrible.

We would wear ours at all shapes depending what you were doing. These days you can wear sun glasses when on patrol, there again there was time when this was banned so the beret would be turned into a peak cap to keep the desert sun out of your eyes.

Better hope the Corps RSM doesn't log on to this site. He's obviously never crossed paths with Mr Wicks.

I must admit Hoofing effort on the Gong.. but that Beret defo needs adjusting.. i know when i was in that was a 45 trade mark... but if we had our G&B anywhere near the side of our grids we would get a severe telling off by the OC or extra duties if the RSM caught us
I got told to shave at the dockside before boarding the LSL one winter, by the Adjudent because my Norway Tashe was below my lower lip

Instituted in 1993 as part of the review of gallantry awards, the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross (CGC) replaced three previous awards: the Distinguished Service Order for gallantry .

THE BERET OF THE ROYAL MARINE COMMANDO, He who wear's it does so with pride. He who doesn't has no f@*king concept of how hard it is to attain!
