Which Cdo will replace 40 in Afghanistan?

Post by The Southerner »

I've got my interview this coming Thursday and have been swotting up on my Corps knowledge, but I can't find the answer to the above question anywhere.

I know that 40 Cdo come home this spring, but will it be 42 or 45 who go out to replace them?

It will be neither, 2 & 3 Para will be taking over from them. 3 Commando Brigade will be taking over from the Paras in around October/November I think and so that would be when 42 & 45 would deploy.

I see. Maybe it was a trick question then when the RN officer at the AFCO said he'd expect us to know who'd be next out.

Thanks for the quick reply mate.

ASC RM have taken up permanent residence in ganners, they have been there ever since the "Viking" was deployed.

My Lad is out there with them at the moment, and will deploy again in September when 3 cdo brigade take over from the Para's.

The Viking Lads are doing six on six off at the moment...

Course not Matt, it`s all public domain anyway.
I just love Camouflage, and despite being the chaddest song Elmer has produced since the Green Beret, I can usually keep a straight face at karaoke seshes 8)
Imagine the setting, Mastermind.
Name?
Camouflage
Special Interest?
Huntin Charley Down.

Who the fark is Charley Down btw? It`s never fully explained in Ridgeway`s chanson

And I quote,

I was a p.f.c. on a search patrol, huntin charlie down
It was in the jungle wars of 65.
My weapon jammed and I got stuck way out and all alone.
And I could hear the enemy movin in close outside.
Just then I heard a twig snap and I grabbed my empty gun.
And I dug in scared while I counted down my fate. And then a big marine, a giant, with a pair of friendly eyes Appeared there at my shoulder and said wait. (Wait yerself Lofts and don`t stand behind me like that :x )
When he came in close beside me, he said dont worry, son, Im here
If charlie wants to tangle now, he`ll have two to dodge
I said, well, thanks a lot! I told him my name and asked him his
And he said the boys just call me camouflage (I said,"get your hand off my thigh you beefer or you`ll be wearing my K-Bar up yer hoop  , grr)
Chorus:Woah-oh-oh-oh, camouflage
Things are never quite the way they seem
Woah-oh-oh-oh, camouflage
I was awfully glad to see this big marine
Well, I was gonna ask him where he came from, when we heard the bullets fly
Comin through the brush, and all around our ears
It was then I saw this big marine light a fire in his eye
And it was strange, but suddenly, I forgot my fears
Well, we fought all night, side by side, we took our battle stance(Pardon?)
And I wondered how the bullets missed this man cause they seemed to go right through him just as if he wasnt there
And in the mornin we both took a chance and ran
And it was near the riverbank when the ambush came on top of us
And I thought it was the end, and we were had
Then a bullet with my name on it came buzzin through a bush (That one, there, see it? The one with the copper coloured top?)
And that big marine, he just swat it with his hand
Just like it was a fly..
.Chorus:Woah-oh-oh-oh, camouflage
Things are never quite the way they seem
Woah-oh-oh-oh, camouflage
This was an awfully strange (big) marine{spoken}
And I knew there was somethin weird about him, cause when I turned around,
He was pullin a big palm tree up outta the groundAnd swattin those charlies with it from here to kingdom come
When he led me outta danger I saw my camp and waved goodbye
He just winked at me from the jungle and then was gone
When I got back to my h.q., I told em about my nightAnd the battle Id spent with a big marine named camouflage
When I said his name, the soldier gulped, and a medic took my armAnd led me to a green tent on the right (as opposed to the blue one or the pink one..... :-? )
He said you may be tellin true, boy, but this here is camouflage
And hes been right here since he passed away last nightIn fact, hes been here all week long.(That`s why he`s a bit ripe mate, have you got any Airwick :P ) ..But before he went, he said semper fi, and said his only wish Was to save a young marine caught in a barrage(top geezer 8) )
So here, take his dog tag, son, I know hed want you to have it now(Like this always happens, poke the grave digger`s registration unit 8) ) And we both said a prayer for a big marine named camouflage
Chorus repeat
So next time youre in a jungle fight, and you feel a presence near
Or hear a voice that in your mind will lodge
Just be thankful that youre not alone, youve got some company
From a big marine the boys call camouflage
Chorus repeat x2Hup, hey-ho, hey, left... left...Woah, woah, camouflageHey, hey-ho, ho, left... left...Woah, woah, camouflageRepeat endlessly until fade...

Camouflage? Hmmmmm.
I know who that bastard is :o
It`s Si Capon 8)
Next time you want to save a young Marine,Si, could you save one for me as well

We know someone else who likes awfully big Marines, don`t we Doc 8)
