Medics must be pretty important in any unit, and I'm guessing even more so in the special forces...is it easier to get selected for the special forces as a medic as a result? Or are they just as tough and have the same training?
Something else I am wondering is about piloting helicopters: do only pilots get training or does anyone else potentially get some limited training, meaning that a ground who travel in a helicopter might know enough to fly it in an emergency?
thanks

Medics in the special forces
Re: Medics in the special forces
Many of the SAS are trained up to be medics so that any one can help out as they work in very small teams. Helicopter pilots well you will have to check on the Army Air Corp for that.

Oh right, so they sort of share the responsibility then. I imagined that one of them was sort of a specialist in that area, but I guess it makes sense for all of them to share that task. Thanks.Tab wrote:Many of the SAS are trained up to be medics so that any one can help out as they work in very small teams. Flying helicopters is seriously hard. An engineer who worked on them on the ground might have an idea how the controls worked (depending on their specific job) but in an emergency wouldn't have time to master the coordination needed to gain control of it.
