What they are after is someone who can carry over 90 pounds of kit for more than 20 miles up and down mountains and arrive at the area able and ready..
90lbs of kit. I'm out of breath thinking about it! Surely it is impossible to shift that weight at more than 1mph on most hard mountain terrain. I thought 20lbs was bad enough on usual Scottish stuff. Got maybe 6mph and was happy with that! Dunno, don't they train in South Wales, i.e Hills? Not been there but still thinking 90lbs is nasty
Hi, sorry for raking up an old thread, just after a bit of info.
Does anyone know the upper age limit for SBS(R) recruitment? Can't seem to find it anywhere.
I've had seven years regular service if this makes a difference? (Army not RM)
I've sent an application for the briefing course so guess I'll find out soon enough if I'm too old! I found this thread while I was searching online so thought I may as well ask.
Cheers in advance if anyone knows the answer.

I have no military experiance and I got a response. So thats not the case.Rover wrote:Konassin,
"Only candidates with military experience will be eligible."
Perhaps this is why you did not get a responce!
Looking for someone with rather more than 'Phase 1 with the TA'?
Rover
If he's serious then he should pick up the phone and just give them a call.
Did they say you could attempt the course with no prior military experience? That must be a recent change then, I had a mate who tried last year but got told they had to be currently signed on and serving in a reserve unit and then transfer across to attempt the course.Steve14 wrote:

Their website says the same.
No change, you have still got to be a member of the reserves.Fivefour wrote:Did they say you could attempt the course with no prior military experience?
