RAuxAF Regiment
RAuxAF Regiment
Are the RAuxAF Regiment set up the same as the regular Regiment? Rapier and Field Squadrons. And do they have a para Squadron? If not is it possible to do a para course with them. And do they recruit women? Or is that for admin duties only?
I served with full time "cmon have a go if you think yer hard enuf"
regular ie full time sqns.
Never had to work with the auggies
Though they were at a range in Germany once when we were there,
all up early running, never really impressed me.
I know a few ex regulars who are in the auggies now
cant see the point really, I mean if you miss it that much why would you leave ????
Yhen some civvy telling you what to do,
or worse some women auggie.
nah,
I wouldn't last.

re workin with auggies
i suggest a look at the mod auxilary site
get a phone number and ask
a lot of auggies got deployed or got called up durin op telic
they worked in a composite field sqn with the regulars
i believe you can volunteer to serve with a field sqn overseas
any of the rocks that are still in will be able to advise better

Usually a RAuxAF Sqn will have a training weekend once a month. The weekend could be anything from live firing on the range, to a tactical exercise in the field. It all depends on what training programme the Sqn has for the year.
Auxiliary Gunners can deploy on operations with the Regulars, but it won't be for a period as short as a weekend. Ideally, any Auxiliary Gunner deploying with a regular Regt Sqn would be able to deploy for the full 4 month operational tour. With the pre-deployment training as well, the time the Auxiliary would give would be nearer 6 months all told.

If you're at college you won't get called out, so long as you can call your education "vital". Nearly all, if not all, mainstream education qualifies as this.Longbow wrote:Mmmm... I'll be at college, thats the problem, so I obviously don't want to be called out, unless it's during summer holidays.
I've already been offered "Movements Operator", but a Gunner definitely appeals more to me, I just don't know what to go for.
EDIT: Just noticed the date on the rest of this topic... Woah...
once a month training weekend is very poor. almost dads army like. one reason why i didnt carry out and follow through my application in the oggys after regs. went there (leeming) with an older mate who had done his time with the french foreign legion and how we laughed. we rocked up and everyone (staff) were so laid back and your best mate but when they read your documents (especially the female guins) they took the hard nosed dont f*ck with me approach) we thought yeah nice act - impresses nobody. anyway after that i had a few brews with some mates in 34 sqn in that lovely 'restaraunt' on camp, admired the lovely raf birds (got chattin to two, me and my cant hack going for the britsh army mate did anyway) then funked off back down A1 to mighty Leeds
