Ready for RMR in 4/5 months?

Post by jm745 »

Hello MFAT members, I'm Joe, I'm 17 and I finish college in July. I am in the process of applying to become an ambulance technician in August/September time and I also want to join the RMR. However I've heard there is only one intake a year at the Birmingham RMR in September, and judging on my current fitness I'm not sure whether I'll be ready for that. But on the other hand I also don't want to wait almost a year and a half to join.

My current fitness levels are 30/35 press ups in 2 mins, 1.5 miles in 10 mins, 50/60 sit ups in 2 mins, 15 pull ups, and I'm currently doing 5-7.5 mile runs.

So I was just wondering whether people thought I'd be ready for RMR training in September.

Cheers.

Joe

Phone your local unit and arrange an interview.. they will have a holding troop you can join to help you in your fitness quest..

4/5 months is ample time to get a base level of fitness for you to build on and have the unit bring you on through the course.

Show the desire by taking the initiative and contacting them and it will go well in your favour.

The RMR course is, i believe (as posted on another thread) 8-10 months so you won't get your lid till at the earliest April 2009...

Plenty time to prepare for those Commando Tests!!

Take your own life by the balls and make it happen for yourself..

Good luck fella..

I'd say those fitness scores are fine, a lot better than mine and I'm also going for selection again in September.

Cheers for the advice, I'll give them a ring and sort out what I'm doing. Know of any kids joining in September? By the looks of things I'll be the youngest there as it's one month after my 18th.
