No.1 parachute training school...

Post by gunner75 »

Who are the blokes that serve the No.1 parachute training school? I know that they are the parachute jump instructors (PJI's) for all UK airborne units but are they apart of the RAF or RAF Regt??Or maybe the above is wrong and they are from various units and put under one big umbrella?? Does anyone know anything about them in terms of how do you join them and what their training is like to be a PJI?
cheers!

the PJI's are all SNCO PTI's. So to join them you need to Join as a PTI, and wait until you get promoted, before you can apply to be a PJI.
Hope this helps.

When I went through 1 PTS our course was taken by the Falcons (RAF free fall team) who all had to do their PJI refresher course. Not sure if they were all club swingers, but this was some time ago i.e. Elton John 'Nikita' was at number 1!
