Ive seen job choices mentioned a few times in the Parachute Regiment forums. Is this basically what specialisation your thinking about going for when the time comes? Because surely your job choice is to be a Paratrooper (infantry). If i'm wrong can someone please point me in the right direction.

I think it's people asking what others have put down for their second and third choice, not so much what they want to specialize in if they make it to a Battalion. :D

Ok thanks but what the hell am I going to put down then. I want to join the Parachute Regiment, if i fail at that, which i dont intend to, i'm coming back to civvie street, training harder, then going for it again. There won't be a second choice for me, unless its SAS lol and if I don't get into Parachute Regiment I doubt the SAS will be singing for me.

Know what your saying mate, I (stupidly) didn't put down a second choice for the same reason, but looking back now, I would have been pretty f@#k if I failed ADSC or recruiting stopped for a long period of time!

Think the interviewing officer at the end would also like to see that you have other options too, even if it just means you would have had to revise more information on the Army :D

Does this mean I have to put down being a mechanic or something in REME or could I put down being Infantry in another regiment? Cause seriously I have no intentions of being anything else than Infantry until i specialise. I know I wouldn't even be completely happy in a different regiment. Would anyone be able to give me some examples of other job choices? Thanks in advance, and thanks for the replies already.

Don't want to 'recommend' a second or third choice mate, cause it may be a bit dis-respectful to that job choice. However if Infantry is all you want then maybe your local Regiment could be a second job choice and then something similar like Royal Artilliary.

If you put down REME or many of the trades you will have to sit a maths test too at ADSC.

If I were you, I would just have a good look at the web site:

Good luck mate! :D

It doesnt matter what you put down, at adsc they are (potentially) offering you a job, if you dont get what you want and you are offered something else, then you can turn it down if you want to, and try again after your defferal period.

What do I want out of the Parachute Regiment, is that what your asking? The pride of being a Para and passing out, it's the hardest Regiment to pass out of surely, you have to do a potential course before you even start training ( know you obviously know this lol just stating why). Once complete I'll be very proud to call myself a Paratrooper, alot more proud than I would be to be Infantry in any other regiment. There's a bit more of a challenge which I like to step up to.
