Quick question on this I have a friend in 7 Para (RHA) and was wondering why this battalion is never mentioned? he claims to be a paratrooper and everyone believes him but why is his battalion never mentioned?
I think you will find it is 7RHA and they were para trained, in my day you had a troop from 7RHA attached to a Para Btn, in my case (1Para) it was G Mercers Troop.
This was in the days of 16 Para Brigade where all your attached arms were para trained and when you went anywhere you had the same guys with you from the other units, i.e. 9 Squadron RE, 216 Sigs, 63 Squadron RCT, 23 PFA, sorry if I missed anybody.

I think they work a lot with the Paras but strictly speaking aren't Para Reg.
Maybe?
Strictly speaking or speaking any other way...no they're not Para Regt of course! they're 16 AAB's artillery unit.

So the fact that 2 Para have suffered very heavy casualties in thier last tour of Afghanistan doesn't suggest that they may need bodies? Plus the fact that there may be a higher than normal signing off rate, after what the lads have been through?

All new platoons will supposedly send the people who pass out with them to the same battalion. This is a new system and I am not sure why it was started. In our platoon everyone got what they requested but this is rare.

Because it's been well reported in the National press, Television and Internet! And if you are seriously interested in joining the the Regt you would have noticed this.

Ronnie you took the words right out my mouth.

And Tom the last pass off here was a joint pass off with a regular recruit platoon and an afc platoon and there was an even distribution between all THREE battalions

Well I don't live under a rock and I saw every one of the casulties that came up. I just though comming from a high ranking Para the info would be legit, obviously not and i'll keep my mouth shut from now on.
