Eyesight for Royal Marines Officer

Post by grand_elf19@hotmail.co.uk »

I am 15 yrs old and am seriously considering a career as a Royal Marines Commando Officer but am worried that my eyesight will dissallow me from getting in (provided i pass selection)

My eyes are -2.00 but i was thinking of having laser eye surgery. Now i have heard that even if you have eye surgery and now have 20/20 vision you are still not allowed in.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated,
James

Lol, so you got the right one then  From what i gather so long as your eye sight isn't absolutely terrible your fine, you can wear glasses when training etc anyway so it shouldn't be a problem unless it is rubbish.
IT WILL COME!

I can make out a person at about 500 yards but if hes in cover, not a chance.
Glasses in training sounds good, i should be alright then, thanks, now its just losin these pounds and wearing out the tarmac!

Thanks, James

And you can have laser eye surgery, depending on what type you choose, some of them bar you from entry. Speak to an afco.

No,

If you have it you'll be deferred for at least a year to check it worked
