Hello again everyone,

I havent been on here for a long time due to not having the internet for the past year or so but im back in the technological world now thanks to virgin media's fairly decent TV and Broadband package.

Anyway, its good to see a fair few names i still recognise and more importantly to see alot of guys who have now gone on to get their Green Lids, congrats to you all.Good effort.

As for me, i have had a setback. Started phase 1 with the RMR back in March and things started off well, but i failed the Criteria 8mile yomp on my 'confirmation weekend' and had to wrap on the 4miler due an injury, a pull/tear of my hip-flexor muscle.

However im still completely focused on getting to the end this time and the green light has been given for me to crack on with the next course and thats exactly what im going to do.Unfortunatley due to the nature of the RMR, it does set you back a fair way, unlike the regs their isnt the option to fit into a troop just a couple of weeks later on so im pretty threaders with that, but thats the way it is.

Any other lads on here RMR at present? cue the 'rubber' related jokes

Hope your all good,

Alright mate, There is a selection weekend on the 28th of Sept I was suppose to be on for RMR London, however I fell off my motorbike last Thursday and fractured my elbow and had a dead leg. So that pretty much me stuffed for that date. Going to see the consultant tomorrow to see how long its going to take to heal. Never know I still might be on that weekend! Iv had so many problems before iv even started training- glandular fever, tonsils removed, dislocated shoulder, shin splints and now this! Its so Fing frustrating!

Letsrole,

How did it go with the specialist? any chance of making the selection weekend for the next intake? Guess its a few weeks away still, but how long might you be out of action for?

Have you been going to holding troop det nights?

Wholley, we all know you've been cyber searching for me. :o

Dwarfy,

The specialist has refered me to the physio for my leg as I still cant lift it up. With my arm he basically said it depends on how long it takes the bone to heal, bit of an obvious answer but thats what he said. Once I can fully stretch my arm out (possibly another week) then I can start doing some light weights on it, then I can go into the press up and stuff. So im looking to start doing press ups again in about two weeks (thats being optimistic!). I cant keep the cardio up either because of my leg,, but iv got physio on Monday. I was quite chuffed how he moved me to the front of the physio queue after me telling him about the selection weekend, usually you have to wait about 2 months.

I think I can make the selection weekend with working legs and arms, however getting the required scores to pass selection is whats worrying me as I would have been out of training for about a month prior to the selection weekend, the weeks where I was planning to peak.

And yes Iv been to every holding troop night so far, they really help with the phizz!

Letsrole,

Sounds like your staying positive mate, which is the best thing to do.Its a real bummer so close to it, but when you still have a chance to overcome it then, as you are doing, you can only give it all you've got. I assume you've let your det know what has happened and they no the situation?

They may well allow you a little bit of 'benifit of the doubt' on your scores for selection given what has happened, if your effort at the HT nights has been spot on and when selection comes around you give it absolutley everything, that may well squeeze you in to the next intake. The phys at the start of Phase one is not that hard (relatively) and it builds up from one ex to the next, so being a little behind phys wise at the start can be combated with determination that will catch you up, so show that on selection and i reckon, given the situation, you have every chance of getting in.

That said, dont push it injury wise, if any injuries arent fully healed be sensible, but if its just a bit of phys lacking then crack on as best as you can.

As i say, just make sure you've let the right people at the det know whats going on, and that they know the score when you turn up for selection,(i.e that your not where you want to be phys wise because....but....) they can only make an informed judgement if you let them.

Best of luck mate,

GGHT, what are you up to then these days?

Aye Iv emailed the det but there all on summer leave at the moment so I doubt I will get a response for a while. HT continues on 2nd Sept so I should go down then and explain my situation face to face.

Your right all I can do now is stay positive!
