Hills

Post by Ste Preece »

The secret with hill running is to take short sharp steps.

I remember our troop stripey in Norway once. We were herringboning up the side of a mountain that seemed to go on for ever. The pace was fast and by the time we got to the top we were breathing like obscene phone callers. Then I looked at our stripey, an ML, who was leading the way, he was just a few feet away from me. When we reached the top, I heard him whisper to himself under his breath. "Arrrhgg, better than a bag off." :D

Typical ML. LOL

Cheers

I wouldn't consider a slight increase in elevation a hill in all fairness

There are no hills just a very slight incline depending on if you start by the pub or by the carpark, the beasting at the end is more fun.

I would say it is a slight incline but nothing to really worry about.

:S it's not a hill! If you think it's a hill I'd hate to see you on Violent entry in ol' Sennybridge with 120 pounds on your back!
Just Lie back and think of England.

The only hill you need to worry about is about 10 foot tall and you will get beasted running up and down it on the bottom field for a couple of hours at a time. Such fun times.

Luckily some of you lot have missed this year's mountain training!
Going downhill is by far worse than going uphill, well that's with one of those things on your back.

Don't you think were overanalysing the training up to the PRMC a bit too much now?

As long as you're training to the regime set out by the AFCO, and eat sensibly I don't think the PRMC will be a problem.

It seems to me its more about weeding out the half hearted guys to the guys who really want this?

I live in a country where there are no hills. (Not Denmark nor Holland)

Is the best I can do to train for hills is using the incline on a treadmill?

Cheers
