I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can get wireless internet connection when you're in your six man room at CTCRM? I know you are allowed to bring laptops.

There is no wireless access at CTC.

This is because there are severe security implications.
Imagine, your in a military base, you've got a lap top and a scanner and your in an office with documents lying around. Hmmmmm.....
Thats why there will never be wireless at CTC.

Anyway, all you've got to do is go to the Interactive Learning Center and there are more PC's there than you can shake a stick at - all on line!

Stix@CTC, on here it says that YO's had their own laptops, what would they typing up on them? Are computers used much in the RM? Just interested to know what happens when you aren't out in the field.

Cheers,

Maybe they weren't typing things up but were using their laptops to watch DVD's, play computer games or listen to music?

Modern life being what it is, computers are used a great deal. During training you will get ECDL training, to give you a basic grounding. JPA, the must celebrated (ha!) new pay system requires users to have a basic knowledge of Windows and PC skills.

Once out of training you'll do Powerpoint presentations to aid your lectures and when your a Sgt. Major, if you're not playing golf you're sat on your arse typing all day long.

(hope he doesn't read this!!)
