CTC on Google Earth

Post by Darren82 »

Well the bods at Google Earth have finally got round to scanning the south west of our lovely country

With a bit of detective work I'm sure all of you that are interested will be able to find CTC

Image

The 1.5 mile best effort route is on there too, just outside the gates which if I'm not busy later I'll photoshop together for you all

The only people I can find are the troop doing drill, also had a look around Woodbury Common but they're probably all hiding in the trees :D

Ah well that's where the fun begins

Start at Exeter, find the train station and follow the river...

Telling you anymore wouldn't be sporting :D

I think its where the staff get you to walk around in a circle after the assault course to stay warm before the determination tests. Its just where the grass is worn ayay to the dirt below.

Looks smaller than I thought....
Or is the perimeter quite big? Although I suppose most training is off site.

Are there any areas of "air" that are restricted on goggle earth? Such as over Poole and Hereford? Surely they don't let you just peer inside. (and find out the color of the boat house! :o ) must be some restricted places :-?

I don't know about Poole, but you can see all in Hereford. You can also see into the Pontrilas camp.

Guess there's nothing that can really be "Picked up" on google earth except maybe the lay out of the camp. Just thought that in this day and age with all the terrorism etc things like military bases would be restricted.

Anything to give me that winning edge :o :P

But seriously with This government and all it's restrictions/rules and regulations it wouldn't have surprised me if all the area 50 miles around any military base was taken off something like that. They seem to take the "you can never be too careful approach"... just look at health and safety :o making kids where goggles while playing concurs and such. (how many times have you herd of some child playing that 100 or more year old game get injured because of his lack of safety wear  )

Really it must be a joke… I bet the MP’s are having a right laugh thinking of some of them regulations. “what have people been doing since the beginning of time perfectly fine that now after all these years need's making safer”

There's alot more to a terrorist attack then just looking at a map.
I would go into detail but I won't in case anything did happen and if anyone else is monitoring these forums.
