Good effort buddy. Welcome to the Royals, get the wets down you.

Have you thought about going for armoured support?? It is the only way you will get on operations this year. Especially Afghanistan, AS is the branch you want if you want to get the rounds down, I'm talking about 2000-3000 per contact. Same thing happened to me, 40 were not accepting lads, it will be 45, or FPGRM. You really don't want to go to 45 or 42 especially when the lads are back from ganners all wared up. Your you will be MR sprog for ages mate. Honking jobs and all. Ask your WO2 who tells you about careers. Gen.

yes tom, we did it mate.
i aint bin on here for ages but this site did help me loads too when preparing for training physically and mentally.
i originally joined with 920 but got heat stroke in week 26, had to wait out in hunter for 5 months for my kidneys to sort themselves out.
just passed out with my oppo tom here with 929.
and he's right coming over the bridge was the best feeling of my life.
had to jump straight in the stream though to cool off because it was absoloutly redders.
stick at it lads because joining the corp was the best thing ive ever done.

AS is basically Vikings (Armoured Support), driving and crewing I believe. It's a rapidly expanding SQ, especially now we're leaving lads in theatre constantly to support whoever's out there (ie. Perce wants to use our kit cos it's hoofing, but we won't let 'em drive it  ). So big recruitment drive, doubt there's much of a waiting list, you may just get it all in before 40 deploy, if not I imagine you'll rotate through fairly quickly. Best bet, have you got one of those green career books? There'll be a phone number for the recruitment officer (usually a sausage) in there - if you haven't got one ask your sausage and he'll get it for you.

Did I say good effort on here already? Can't remember, but well done mate; I owe you a wet if you're back in town for a weekend. Gimme a yell.

I'm doing an AS Addqual, basically do the training and go on an Op and then you are HGV trained, Viking trained and you go back to a unit. whichever one you want. It is you best bet if you want to go on operations this year. I tried to get 40 but was foxtrot oscared. sent you a PM.

Felias, you get that straight out the box did you mate? Or have to apply through unit? Where's it done?

Ran into an oppo I passed out with in Afghan, he was driving Vikings working with Juliet, think he went to 42 straight away. Not sure if he's now AS SQ or just as an adqual.
