Really? Did mine on the 7th and funnily enough in the ACPO they were saying they were thinking about bringing it down!

Sorry to hear you have to re-do it though mate!

Unlucky mate, but under 10 min is easily achievable. Its a good heads up for everyone.

I struggled on the treadmill as I had never run on one before. Outside I get around 9:15 , but only got 9:46 on the pjft - which included twatting my head on the ceiling and nearly falling off !

Jus wondering, the PJFT is done on a treadmill right and that's 1.5 miles in 10 minutes? And also is there a 1.5 miler on POC/PRMC and what terrain is this on?

I've been waiting for them to bring it down.

How do you twat your head on the ceiling whilst on a treadmill, gym roofs are usually sky high.

You just really tall :o ?

The 1.5 miller's on the PJFT and as far as I know you do a 3 miller on the PRMC and think it's the same with the POC but will need a quicker pace!

Just have to bare in mind that most treadmills don't go that fast so check with the gym instructor what speed you need to be doing before you start! When I did mine he'd worked it out and made sure I got it up to speed before it was too late! They may not all be this helpfull though!

i dont understand this, i spoke to a CPO at careers office and they said its a massive indicator as towards prmc and rt..coffcoffbullshitcoffcoff

and then they go and increase that of 3 miler? mmmmhh

tell me how PJFT indicates how your mind will cope with a 5 nighter in the field piss thru, my guess is it dosent pfffft

I was just thinking if you passed the PJFT with a time over 10.00, for example say 10.30 will you have to re do it again if you have yet to go on your PRMC?

I think reducing it is a good idea.

I haven't taken mine yet but if you can't do a 1.5 miler in less than 10 mins you're probably not ready for PRMC.

When did they decide to do this by the way?

You can't ridicule the PJFT, the RM apply the tests they believe are necessary. It's just an early weeding out, they hope to get as many potential recruits as possible down to Lympstone, that's why it isn't to much of a challenge.

Well personally i think its a little strange. 45 seconds is a fair amount to cut off for a 1.5 mile run too. I know for a fact a lad that used to post on here got over 10 minutes on his PJFT passed RT and is now serving with Royal in Afghanistan.

I just think it was ok as it was, as it allowed for those who weren't quite as fit as others but who have it mentaly to have a crack ar PRMC and pull it out of the bag. I think you will find there are a fair amount of people who get around 9.30 on the PJFT but who still fail PRMC. This is because simply they are quick runners due to physical make up etc, but dont have it upstairs and for example will wrap on bottom field. Where as at the other end of the scale you'll have a lad who is fairly slow in a road run, but who will just keep going in a bottom field type phys exercise.

Some people are just racing snakes and others arent, i just dont think it should be really tight time for getting on PRMC, as there are many indicators of fitness and of course dtermination plays a big part, even at PRMC.
