How long after application do recruitment team get in touch

Post by CiaranMcK »

Hey guys,

On the 5th of this month I finally got the e-mail informing me the RAF were taking applications for Officers positions. I filled out the application instantly and sent it off.

On the website, once I'd completed the form, it said I'd hear by e-mail, phone, or post in 5 working days, today is the 21st and still no sign? Anyone else with experience of the process know how long it could take to hear?

I'm more than qualified so I'd be shocked if I didn't get at least a few more stages in! (BA Honours degree, 4 A levels, personal trainer, captain of my rugby team, and have been for the last 3 teams I've played for, family history in various UK and US forces).

Any guidance appreciated.

Cheers people.

Did you get a response eventually? I don't know how flooded the recruiters were back when you posted this but i know that right now it takes about a month to get a response from the army, not sure about the RAF.

Ignore the automatic response, it's taking 5-6 weeks for the recruiting team to get through applications on average.

Ah thanks for the precision on the delay for a response. I've applied for the role of "Regular army soldier" with the Parachute regiment as my first choice.

That's the RAF team Connah, but I expect the Army times are similar.

Ah, i'm not in much of a rush anyway. Though i want to get stuck in with selection and all that as soon as possible the longer it takes for me to get a response the longer i have to prepare mentally and physically for what is to come so it's a win win situation for me.

I've got my filter interview at the AFCO tomorrow afternoon, then I go to selection straight after I get back from my impending deployment. Not so much in the way of time for me to prepare there, so don't worry too much about it!

I'm not worrying about it but i don't want to waste my time not preparing. The way i see it the more i prepare the better it'll go and the better the chances of me getting in so i might as well prepare all the time haha.
