9ft wall!!!!
9ft wall!!!!
Okay, ive heard that on the PGAC you have to get over a 9ft wall. i am not the best of people to climb a wall with no foot holes at the moment. so do you have to get over this on your own? because it seems a little high to get over just for selection. any help would be greatful

Dont worry about it. Piece of p*ss. Just run like f*ck at it and confidently jump and reach up to grab the top. With momentum and a certain amount of upper body strength you will get over it. Roll over the top of it and jump down. Jobs a good un. You HAVE to attack these things aggressively otherwise if your mincing about the PTI's are gonna get ya....

There is a 9ft wall as part of the assault course, yes. Decent upper body strength and a bit of determination will get you over it, very few lads on my PGAC didn't manage, even those that took 2 or 3 attempts with a run up eventually got over. If you really can't do it, one of the PTIs will give you a leg up, but not until you've made plenty of decent attempts. They're testing your determination here, not just your strength and agility. Ever done the bleep test? Same thing. Run between 2 lines spaced 20 meters apart in time to beeps on a tape. Every minute(ish) you go up a level and the beeps get 0.5 seconds closer together. So your score will be a level, and then a number of beeps in that level, i.e 1.2 9.8, 10.12, etc

They say though you can be quite unfit but very good at bleep tests, its ment to be all about practice and little to do with fitness - obviously fitness helps...mr_man_2168 wrote:Ever done the bleep test? When i applied for the royal marines I got told that you can never do enough pull-ups, Iv never been in RM training but I guess thats what the instructor was talking about.druadan wrote:If you can do an overhand pull-up, you can get over anything you can reach the top of. But that not the point. What I was saying is that its all about getting used to the timings and knowing when to speed up slow down, some one who does it regularly will know the timings like second nature whereas someone who is doing it for there first time although at a higher standard of fitness will get a much lower score.

I'd agree with that if the timings were constantly changing, but they decrease by the same amount every minute, and the tape tells you when you advance a level so you know the pace is moving up slightly. It's not like it goes from 9 seconds to 4, to 8, etc.EagleEyes wrote:
