Are there any Rockapes active on this forum so I can ask a few questions, I'm quite curious at the moment.

When you have finished basic training, can you specify what Squadron you want to go to or are you sent where you are needed?

I presume you can't go to II Squadron or 63 Squadron from training as they are specialist?

You can express a preference whilst in training, but as you correctly surmise you are likely to be sent where the need is greatest i.e. fill the gaps on the next Sqn to deploy, but not always.

Wrong, you can apply for both of these units prior to passing out. Do well on your TG course, and if the timing is right, you stand a chance of getting your first choice, notwithstanding the above of course. Both units have LACs on them. :wink:
