RAF Police, just a bad day or an up himself so and so?

Post by rockapemk1 »

Recently i had the unfortunate pleasure of having a run in with a RAF police Cpl. One of the cadets in my charge had no pass for his car so he went to the passes window to ask for one and the Cpl began to give him a dressing him down. Noticing this and seeing that the cadet was getting increasing pished at the Cpl i decided to try and save the cadet making an ass of himself, as i also needed a pass for a rover.
Having approached the guard window in normal dress he "attempted" to give me a dressing down telling me my standards where "gash as f*ck" because i:

1) I wasnt wearing a smock (yeah right, had my beret on and shirt on)
2) Presented my MOD90 to get on the base (correct me if im wrong thats what im meant to do, i could just drive through your precious little port a cabin in my 110 but you may shoot at me)
3) He didnt like the manner in which i asked for a pass for the rover.

Completely ball bagged after the weekend a series of grunts where the reply he got he eventually conceded to the pass with the parting words "next time i catch you on my station i'll bounce you!"

Bad day or is this a normal reception to expect from RAF coppers?

Give him the benefit of doubt and say it was a bad day, or he could have just been an arse (we have our fair share like everyone else). However, please bear in mind that the lads and lassies get a lot of shit from some jumped up Officer Cadets from UAS who seem to think it is their god given right to talk down to other people!

Couldn't resist replying to this one, Yes he might have been an arse, but then you haven't said what your attitude was like when you jumped to the aid of your cadet, normally the way people initially speak to us dictates the response they will get and the final outcome of the encounter! As for the comment about driving your 110 through his precious little p/cabin, think about how stupid you might sound before you post, even if you were stupid enough to try it, if you survived you could expect an all inclusive stay at the 5* Greybar Hotel at the leisure of Her Majesty. It could have been worse he could have introduced you to Messrs Monadnok & Hiatt. Yes like any any group within the services whe have our fair share of Tw@ts but don't think that this is the normal reception or that we're all the same. Just for info roughly 1 in 6 RAF Coppers have served in other capacities prior to getting their warrant card, mostly RAF Reg, Para and other Infantry units so we weren't born arrogant we learned it elsewhere and have since perfected it!. On a personal note I think you may have caught this particular Nco on a bad day, if it had been me I'd probably have offered to insert my 3 cell Maglite so far up your arse you'd have looked like a lampshade! however I am known for my tact and diplomacy! Just out of interest were oyu waiving your paintball cannon and airsoft MP5 about at the time of the meeting as this may bear some relevance on your treatment!

Im hurt i've been tarred with same brush as a UAS O/Cdt!Im OTC if you please

You really think I would drive a 110 at them? Good luck...

My attitude was waiting until he had finished dressing the cadet down then when he looked at me i introduced myself(politely not "Hey f*cknut what are you playing at im Officer cadet RA sort your life out or do you enjoy getting your kicks out of bossing kids about?") and explained i was escorting this cadet, then he proceed to launch into me.

Dont get me wrong i know in the grand scheme of it all i have naff all rank compared to the full screw on the gate but surely you can expect a little professionalism when all I wanted was a pass for a ruddy landrover?

As for the paintball cannon/MP5, had an A2 in the rover does that count?

1./ Fair one!

2./ Jury's out on that one and luck would'nt come in to it!

3./ Sounds like the cadet was defective and because you admitted to ownership of a defective cadet you got the fixed penalty! So I'll give you that one!

4./ Now you're beginning to impress me!
Totally agree but shit happens!
Aren't your rovers green like everybody elses!

5./ Only if it was a real one!
Are you saying you left it unattended whilst you spoke to the RAFP Nco ????

Still don't need a pass for any military vehicle you just have to produce the work ticket if it is not green fleet. good point about the weapon!!!

I thought TA vehicles only work at weekends lol.
Maybe he did not want to show his work ticket as he had failed to fill it in thus making the journey illegal as he would be uninsured.

Good job you did not use the F*cknut as we would have laughed at you all the way to colchester via medical centre. And as for bossing kids about, i think we will leave that to the likes of YOU.

I must show my ignorance here, what is OTC??? Is that the Army equivalent of University Students on bursaries or something?? I have very little time for most UAS cadets, I understand their function but it just appears to be a student drinking club with a bit of flying thrown in and some (not all) behave appalingly when on Units. Have had run ins with them at Benson, Newton, Leeming and Aldergrove.

Please tell me your not a RAFP/RMP a civvie copper, if you are you clearly need more help on your detective/reading skills

Hmm, given the size of the RAFP i dont think i would be the one in the med centre...Napoleon Syndrome on his part i think they call it.

HN, i had a co-driver so the weapon was secure at all times during transit. I may OTC but im not a typical thick student bum.

FB1, your almost there,OTC is a TA unit for uni students considering a carear in the forces. Its like UAS *shudders* but without the attitude that they seem to give them at Cranwell or their TownHq.

I think you'll find that Jack was applying a technique commonly known to those in full time military service as "ripping the piss!" you being an intelligent student may know it as "sarcasm"

I can confirm that Jack is a currently serving member of the RAFP and would like to state for the record that I have honestly never seen him reading a detective (is that a sexual offence?)

Silly boy, never judge by size it normally ends up in you looking up at the little bloke from the pavement and mumbling apologies through broken teeth.

Was your co-driver wearing his full face helmet and nomex overalls at the time as this may have impaired his vision if somebody had attempted to sneakily have your airsoft A2 away!

A "thick bum" would be useful if you ever become a real officer!

Coming from somebody who possibly brought this all on himself by failing the attitude test this sounds a touch rich!
