Joining the Navy

Post by zombieslut »

I have a basic query:

Do you have to be able to swim to join the Navy?

Are you allowed to use armbands if you are slightly overweight?

ZS, you don't necessarily have to be able to swim when you join, but I'll guarantee you will be able to swim before you finish training. I couldn't swim when I arrived at Deal in '62, they have their ways, and I could swim before the 15 weeks were up, well before.

Women are not alowed on submarines because of the incredible pressures exerted on the body when 'under'. They can cause a woman to become infertile and play havoc with their insides (my dad is an ex submariner).

Havoc with their insides? What like constipation or something?
I had that once it was really baaaaad.

Didnt Captain Nemos have a girlfriend in 2000 Leagues Under the Sea? Does that mean she was infertile and constipated?

What pressure unless it goes "tits up" the pressure is only 1 bar abs........ the real reason is imagine one of our boomers out there "somewhere" with rather a large amount of nuclear warheads aboard and the naafi runs out of chocolate........ the end of the world (joke)
My position remains before the mast.

If the outside pressure is 20 atms then the inside pressure must be more otherwise the boat will crush! Unless my physics is wrong

if that was the case then there would be a lot of dead sundodgers everytime a sub surfaced after a depoyment its all pressure hulls and such magic far beyond my comprehension im afraid :-? i prefer to get out of the water at the end of the day, or even better not get in it :P
