Are there any roles in Navy which get deployed less?

Post by Manny »

I wanted to find out if there are certain roles in the navy that get less deployed than others or if all roles get the same length/time on tour?Someone mentioned to me that air engineering technicians do not get deployed often, does anyone know if this is true? Thanks for any help you can give.

Operations are forever changing, do not base all your research solely on Herrick deployments. Remember The Royal Navy and Royal Marines are committed in operational theatres around the world on a daily basis – from the sands of Afghanistan to the falklands or even a six-month deployment fighting piracy off the coast of Somalia.

Like the rest of the armed forces operational deployments last six-months. Including a two week R & R slot.

The RN AE's are probably one of the most deployed of the RN, they are quite often embarked on Major deployments throughout the year and as mentioned earlier almost permanently on Herrick (with various Sqn's on rotation).
