Career In The Navy - think again .. its poor these days

Post by ExRNSteve »

Being honest here by all means experience it if you have few qualifications and little immediate prospects.. The job is all work and no play now totally ruined and like the army most people would gladly leave if honest, was ok up until mid 90's , basically when the cold war finished the navy started its lingering death, shame but true..... 22 years and 23 days, fistfull of medals!! Glad I left don't miss it one bit !!!!

Was in recruitment for last 15 months

It was the most hideous waste of time and money I ve ever had in the RN. Turning up at shows with a battered, oudated wagon with nothing to give away, it was a total joke. Complete wate of public money!

ExRn, so why post it here? As you can see this forum is for help and not negative 'I hated it' tripe.

Where you hated working like that, I loved it! It was an every day challenge and I never regretted a single second in the RN.

The RN like the other forces have been in gradual decline since end of cold war, FACT. Morale is at all time low, FACT. The RN is over stretched, archaic, under-funded FACT.

I would never never let my children join HM foces now, FACT.

get a life ......

I left in 2004 and regret leaving to a point but at the time during my 12 months notice i hated it and wanted out. the trouble was after basic training when you got drafted things seem to go down hill dont get me wrong loved the trips away and the female services ashore provided being careful to make sure it was a lady! But all the cleaning after its been cleaned and then cleaned again and then cleaned again GET MY POINT! I have a few friends still in and they say things have not changed just got worse but like i say your good times are really good and the bad boring.

It certainly took a long time to discover he hated it
