My family are from Scotland and I take pride in the regiments in which they served (even though I’ve been berated for wanting to join soft southern regs). I sign with pride; thanks Granddad, thanks Great Granddad and other assorted members of family for doing what you did. I only hope I make you proud.

Please all accept my apologies, I was not seriously suggesting that these regiments are anything other than dam fine organisations. I was simply conducting a "Joseph Wells" type exercise out of curiosity. I have my results and will no longer take up any time of the forum with this matter, or indeed any matter.

No offence was intended.

Deld, I sypathise with you and the fate of the fine old Ulster regiments that no longer exist. It is heartbreaking to visit the Ulster Tower at Theipval.A few years ago the RIR erected a simple memorial to the VCs of of the Ulster DIv acknowledging their descent from those regiment, The Iniskilins, Royal Ulster Rifles etc. What happened next, the bastards disbanded the the Rangers. Shame on all politicians who destroy our heritage. The names of the regiments may disapear but their glory lives on in our memories and hearts.

I've signed, but why isn't there one to save the English regts also? eg the Duke of Wellingtons, Green Howards, POW and all the others that are being supposedly disbanded? Or is there one that I've missed?

I would...but I only get internet access from work and can't set up a website or anything. Not that I know much about site building. I might search the web to see if anyone else has done one, though, if i get time.

Bigbart, if you cannot find one, ask yourself why?

Please, don't tell me that the English Don't care as much for their Regiments as we Scots do for ours?

Well I can only speak for myself, Jan. I'll mourn if we lose any of those regiments, especially the Duke of Boots as I was once in training to be in that regiment. And I've still got mates in there. I had a quick scan and I can't find one, :( I'll look a little deeper when I get a moment.
