Do paras carry a side arm
Re: Do paras carry a side arm
unless im mistaken pretty much all infantry have a side arm, im sure there is a few exceptions but i no i sure as hell wouldn't want to go into combat without a second arm as it could mean life or death if your rifle jams at the wrong time
{edit}and i would of thought it would be even more important in the paras where you have every chance of losing your kit and landing on your own in a extremely hostile terroity

Depends what your job is, one of the jobs I had in the Para's I had quite a load with the weapon I had then so I carried a 9 mm Browning

Unless you carry a GPMG or are in a FIBUA or CQB environment there is not much need for you to carry a 'side arm.' It's not 'Call of Duty'. The issued 'side arm' nowadays is a Sig Sauer P226 - for all the spotters out there.
