Hi, i have this old picture of my great grandad and i know he served in ww1 but also he was a police officer. This to me looked like a police uniform but the badge interested me. Can anyone shed any infor or this. Thanks in advance.Image

That cap is certainly not police.

Looking carefully at the cap badge the crown looks more Dutch than English, and when you blow up the picture and look at the medals just who is the face on them

I'm pretty sure I saw that uniform on an internet store next....No I jest, but it doesn't actually look British to me, I think it may be Dutch or Scandanavin like Tab suggested.

I'd say its definitely police of some sort. The chain will be for your Granddads whistle and you can clearly see his Collar Numbers. As you may know, today's police still call their ID number their "collar number" even though they're worn on their epaulettes.
