New Guy

Post by walker89 »

Hey there,

Im currently in the middle of my application process, just thought i would
make myself known the this site.
I have just been medically approved from lichfield and i now have
an interview and a fitness assessment coming up next week.
Hopefully that all goes well so i can get a date for ADSC!
I currently have AAC as my first job choice and para's as my second,
im hoping to change those around as i am really wanting to go
for the parachute regiment.
Any tips and advice are appreciated and im sure i will post questions
as they arise.

Cheers guy,

Walker

I've got my ADSC on the 11th; however I went on ADSC two months ago and had a very bad accident involving a metal spike and my knee......OUCH!

I got my 1.5 mile in 8:51 and everything else was perfect too, bit gutted it was ended RIGHT at the end of selection!

However Im determined to get into the Paras :D :o

Good look with every aspect of your selection procedure mate, and keep us posted on how your getting on.

Woody.

Thats unlucky mate, when can you try again?

I know i have to be sub 9 minutes on the 1.5

I will let you know how things go!
Also keep me posted on how things are going for you!!
Good luck on recovering mate!

Nice one mate! I had to send my medical forms 3 times
due to the laziness of my surgery! Wasted about 6 weeks
messing about with it!

I think my fitness is pretty good, but im still working on it.
I haven't been on the insight course yet, but i booked one
for the first weekend of october.

Is that 50-70 push-ups and sit-ups in 2 minutes?

Whats your fitness like at the moment?

I hope they dont mess about with my medical i've heard alot of reports of them not being to reliable. At the moment I can do 60 press ups 70 sit ups and 12 pullups and a 1.5m in 9:19  the press ups and sit ups are in 2 mins. What can you do for your 1.5m and press ups?

I ended up hand delivering my medical forms to my recruiter
then i got a call back after a week and a half saying im cleared!!
Im not 100% sure on what my fitness is like, i havn't times myself
on my press ups or sit ups yet. I think the sit ups will be fine
but im a pretty skinny guy so im struggling a bit with press ups!!
but im working on it so hopefully i will be fit enough when the time comes!
I do the 1.5 in just under 10 so that still needs a bit of work.
How long have you been training for?

Im going onto ADSC again on the 11th September mate, I'm completely recovered now!

OH, and lads, with your medical forms, go to see them EVERYDAY and say "have you completed my medical forms yet?" and be REALLLY pi**ed of with them too. :D

I remember when I tried joining after Year 11, it took them almost 4-5 months to tell me that they have lost the paper work! One year later I've applied to join again and they had it completed for me within 3 days  Only because I went in there asking them hour of the day!

Walker: With the fitness side of things like push ups, sits ups etc you won't even be tested on that at ADSC. The ONLY push ups and sit ups I did at selection was in the docs room for the medical check, just so he could see my 'posture' or something like that! But what you should be aiming for is atleast 70 push-ups / sit ups in 2 mins for when you get into depot.

DJSOLUTION: Im love weight training, as I done it everyday as part of my rugby scholarship, but I've completely stripped weight training out of my fitness sessions now. I just stick to instense cardio sessions and effective circuit training :D

I know the run time is sub 9:18, is there anything else
i have to do?

How often do they send groups to ADSC? and how often do they
take paras into Catterick?

I think they take intakes to Catterick every month. I have ADSC this month and wanting to get down to Para depot asap so hoping to be in around October time but i could be wrong!
