2 UK troops killed in action in Afghanistan
2 UK troops killed in action in Afghanistan
Hi,
Does anybody know if they've released the names of the 2 soldiers killed on Tuesday?
I can't find it on the BBC news site so I'm guessing they haven't. Usually they inform the families and then publish it fairly quickly.
Cheers

Their names are not going to be released at the request of their families

I was waiting anxiously to find out if it was SF, my AFCO told me no Royal Marines had been killed since WW2, minus the helicopter crash a while back, but that wasnt his fault. I guess I expected that it would be the same story for Special Forces, evidently not. But they are up against enemies who know the territory, outnumber them and it was a planned ambush...

Any soldier can be killed no matter how good they are, in fact a lot of the best soldiers are the first to die cause they're the 1st to put their lives on the line.
The guy at the AFCO is talking complete rubbish to you not only did marines die in Iraq other than the helicopter crash, the guy who was killed by friendly fire from other marines is one that springs to mind.
Has he never heard of a little war called the Falklands? or Korea? Im sure marines have died in Northern Island and Borneo and Malaya and half a dozen other shitholes over the past 60 yrs.
Anyone who tries to tell you that a unit is the best by the fact none of them has died is either an idiot or a liar.
This is real life not Hollywood real soliders get killed maimed and wounded when they get into fire fights that's just the way things are.

i was a little dubious about what he said, because i thought i'd heard there had been casualties in the Falklands, but i didnt question what he had to say, although it begs to reason why bother lying. Frank, im not a coffee drinker!

This might seem a bit wrong, but might he have said it in order to test your knowledge? If he made such a claim, and you replied that you thought the truth was otherwise, then obviously your service knowledge is up to scratch enough that you are confident to question such claims?
Just a thought.

Just a thought.

I can see your point Dickie, i did mention to him that the PRMC video he showed me was out of date, so he may of been testing my general service knowledge to see how much research i had done.
