It's probably been posted 748 times before (exactly ), but I thought I'd put this to you....

Are you in favour for Britain bringing back national service?

I'm torn between yes and no really. Yes, because it will get the gobshites off the streets and teach them discipline (I dont mean all younger people, you know what I mean, heck, I'm only 25 so also count myself in that generation ), which is severely lacking in todays society in my opinion. But also, I say no, because in my opinion I think it could bring down the quality of the British forces.

What do you all think?

As one of the generation that you are talking about I would be willing to put myself through it if it would rid the streets of Chavs, scum and general wide boys.

However I do have to agree with you that the muppets that you would be sending to the likes of Pirbright/Halton etc would be shocking.

Would have to wonder as well what damage it would do to the repuation of the armed forces if some of said muppets got deployed to the Iraq.....etc

Yes. My generation are all scum bags who pick on the weak.

I also believe you should need a licence to have a baby and the human race should be culled of anyone who gives no obvious skills to the advancement of the race.

Lets stop war, spend all the money we do on weapons to come together, enter the next stage of evolution, stop pain and suffering and explore space together as a peaceful, intellgient species.

No. A lot of kids these days are little shits, but not all of them are. To punish the lot for the few is simply wrong. Though I do think anti-social behaviour is a major problem that needs sorted out now. Its like a desease that spreads from area to area, through schools and gangs. Sort it out with good old trial and punishment. A lot of these kids act like they do because they know that nothing will be done against them. So, tell them what will happen and then enforce it. Bring back the cane, allow victims of anti-social behavior to fight back. My family and neighbours suffer a lot from gangs who physically and verbally threaten people on a daily basis, and openly drug deal in the street. They get away with it. If I went out and twated one of these, I would be prosecuted.

A lot of the problems also lie with the parents - they dont give a shit about what there kids get up to. So, punish the parents too - cut thier benefit, evict them, prison them, send them to parenting schools, make them pay for the damage that thier kids cause. Castrate criminals so they cant have kids. My mum and dad brought me and my siblings up right. We dont get into trouble. Yet just two doors down the road ther is a kid who lives on his own because his dad is always off f@#k a slapper. He's disabled, so the police wont touch him. We complain, we get nothing but abuse.

Alright, maybe some of these kids have nothing to do - but that's not an excuse. They have lots of things to do if they put thier minds to it - get a job, wash the car, exercise, anything. A few years back a climbing frame was built on my estate for the kids. Within a month is was destroyed by gangs. My local woods have become a no go area day and night because of the gangs of scallies that hang round in them.

I live on a private housing estate, not a council one. the kids here are spoilt though - they do f@#k all but smoke weed and create havoc. Then thier parents go out and buy them a car! People who have never worked a day in thier live spend all day driving around selling drugs.

A baseball bat in the kneecaps would be far more effective. Besides, I wouldnt trust these bastards with a gun.

Personally i reckon that bringing it back would be a great thing....

It would get all the chavs and nobbers off the street, which would make most places better and more friendly

Some of you have said that it's wrong to punish them all, even though most are fine, however by making them complete National Service you would increase their fitness, helping to combat the ever increasing problem of obesity in this country.

Also, alot of people that I know who completed National Service have said that although they didn't enjoy it much at the time they are glad to have had the experience as it has made them a better person.

After GCSEs you should have to prove that you are going to be doing something worthwhile - either a job or onto college.
If you cannnot prove this, then 3 years service should be given. Not neccessarily armed forces, but as has been mentioned, community based work.
After A-levels or equivalent, again, you should have to prove that you are either going to Uni or moving into a gap year structure or employment.
If you can't prove at this stage, a 2 year stint should be given.


That way, the dropouts are all scooped up and made to do something meaningful, but theose who are contributing already are left well alone.

Id just like to point out that you cant blame how kids are turning out nowadays on the way they are brought up and i know this first hand ive had a shit! upbringing but kids, me being one not long ago are easily influenced and at the moment idiots like 50 cent and Akon are basically telling kids to go out get blown, steal cars, deal drugs, go to jail, be persecuted because there 'black' and making them think there some bad boy living in the ghetto of LA and even better there somehow there going to end up dancing in a mansion in the holywood hills with 100 girls (with big tits and asses of course) poolside. Kids have gotta get a big wake up call and snap out of this dillusion and i reckon the best way of doing this is to have some sergeant major screaming at them

Wow, I've always felt that you should need a license as well. It sounds completely fascist liebensbaun style but I really believe it could work.

I voted yes. I wouldn't have them doing anything too sensitive like front line action just teach them military skills and have the goods ones in the thick of it the rest of them can clean the bogs, make the tea, be cannon fodder etc.

Personally no, I wouldn’t bring back National service in the military. Reason being I work FFing hard to get in and want to be around people who want to be there just as much as I do. I don’t want to be stood next to some chav who isn’t prepared to give 110% because he’s just coasting it until he can get out.

I do like the idea of making them work in their own community; maybe American chain style gangs would work in this country? I doubt they would be so ready to litter, graffiti, vandalise, abuse etc if they had just spent the last month cleaning it up.
